Our Story
Priority Health International (PHI) is a health and wellness organization created in Tampa Florida by Drs. Dieudonné and Marie Jean-Baptiste in March 2013. We have launched our office in Haiti in January 2014. Our Mission is to “Inspire and equip people to live a healthier life”.
Our practice is part of the “Natural Health” (NH) movement with two different scopes depending on our location. In the US, as non-licensed physicians, we work as “health consultants” conducting health assessments and educating our clients about lifestyle changes. In Haiti, we offer a large range of Functional Medicine services. Wherever we are, we aim at “working at the root causes of diseases” instead of addressing the symptoms.
We call conventional medicine the Western approach to prevent and treat diseases. It is the dominant medicine in the world. Its approach consists at collecting signs and symptoms, conducting para-clinic exams to come up with a diagnostic. With an established diagnostic, the physician follows the current standard of care to treat the disease with pharmaceuticals. We believe that conventional medicine has had its golden age in the fight of infectious diseases and emergencies management. It is still thriving in those areas with amazing technological developments that save many lives and alleviate sufferings. Its success seems to pale when it comes to addressing non-communicable or chronic diseases. Patients are complaining that they are becoming mobile pharmacies, swallowing a lot of pills with many side effects. They are sometimes obliged to take medicines to address other medicines’ side effects creating a complex vicious cycle. As a result, a patient can have many specialists, each taking care of one sick organ, loosing sight of the reality that all organs are interconnected, each playing a role to create and play that beautiful and complex symphony called Health.
Functional medicine (FM) looks at the patient as a unique individual in its complex interaction with the environment. Its approach aims at identifying the root causes of diseases. Its main premises can be summarized as follows: if a symptom shows up, it’s because of the perturbation of one or many physiologic processes due generally to nutritional deficiencies or the presence of toxins. If we could identify the missing elements and provide them; at the same time single out the toxins and remove them, the body would regain its ability to re-establish homeostasis and take care of the symptoms. As a result, diseases known as incurable can be reversed and cured.
PHI uses an integrative approach to health. We combine knowledge from CM with approaches and techniques from NH and FM to offer a unique array of services to our clients and patients. We rely heavily on health education promoting lifestyle changes for better health outcomes. We use the NES ProVision, a quantic scanner that provides an energetic map of the human Bodyfield showing distortions in different energy pathways that can be corrected by energy products called infoceuticals. We also use high quality heath food supplements (nutraceuticals) to support different body functions. In Haiti, we can use medicines only when deemed necessary.
Who are our prospective clients? Our clients are part of two broad categories that are actually very inclusive:
• First, healthy people who want to maintain and improve their health.
• Second, people with chronic diseases which root causes are not being addressed.
