I was listening to a beautiful interview of Deva Premal and at one point she says: "the mantra came and really the voice open".
This sentence talked to me, as Hawaiian chants helped me to (re)discover the joy of singing.
I felt a lot of shame around singing and did not dare to do it. But thanks to my Lomi Lomi and Hula teachers I had to give it a try again, as chants are integral part of the Hawaiian culture. One of the way of singing in Hawaiian is to feel the vibration in your throat and heart. This was one of the 1st keys for me and I felt something unlocking in my voice. I still very shy, but at least I have fun with my voice when I am alone! Singing well is not so important, and we can all play with our voice! It gives such a joy and a state of well being. It invites to the silence! The inner one 😌
The chants are part of the healing "tools" of the Hawaiians, they are called "Mele". They are even better food for our spirit that they are made of beautiful positive words. A big change compare to some of the mainstream music! In fact, some of the Hawaiian "mele" are prayers, they can be blessing for the land or a being, asking for help, a celebration...
Before starting a massage I sing a Hawaiian prayer, I love it because it wishes you all what you need! Aloha, inner power, freedom, peace and harmony. You heard it for sure if you came to a session 😉
I also love mantra, if you want to listen to the interview of Deva Premal here is the link to the podcast https://castbox.fm/x/1iNy6
