LABO. LABO. is a design and architecture firm based on research to support the business vision of the client. As the name implies, LABO. Born in April 2006, LABO.

which stands for "Laboratory” promote innovation in each project undertakes. Finding balanced blend between social, economic and environment aspects, is the main philosophy to support the property development / sustainable assets concepts. handling projects in a wide range of sectors, including urban design, masterplan, blocks, high rise, low rise, reform, interiors and products. Design projects for public buildings have established numerous and diverse from commercial facilities, offices, apartments, hospitals, museums, recreational areas, religious buildings, educational buildings, sport to industrial complex. work by integrating a variety of fields specialized scientific support architectural design field, which are green design, parametric design, structural engineering, M & E and others. have participated and received awards for many local and international design competitions, including: 1st Prize Design Regional General Hospital in South Jakarta, AQSA Factory in Solo and New Museum of Bandung Asia-Africa Conference in Bandung; 2nd Prize for University of Indonesia Student’s Apartments in Depok; 3rd Prize for Balai Kirti Museum Bogor Palace, PPK Infrastructure Office at Kemayoran Jakarta and Holy Mosque in Padang, West Sumatra; and Special Honorable Mention Prize for the Agung Sedayu Center in Jakarta, Bank of Indonesia in Solo, BMW Park Stadium in Jakarta, and Envisioning the Future of Jakarta“, for an International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam 2009. Several design projects has been published both in local or international media such as: Architecture@10, Architecture@11, Architecture@13, Architecture@14, Architecture@16, Futuarc, Indonesia Design, Indonesian Architects, 50 Indonesian Architects+ Emergings, Skala+, Laras, Rumahku, Rumah Tabloid, Building Indonesia, and others. also initiated various programs such as Pecha Kucha Night Bandung, Heritage Culture, Bandung Public Furniture, Architecture & Business Talk, and Indonesian Architects Week @ Tokyo 2011. All it is fulfilled with the aim to build a progressive development of design and architecture.

This year, Indonesian Architects Week Rio 2021 (IAWR 2021) will run in parallel with the 27th UIA World Congress of Architects to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Unlike previous IAWs, the COVID-19 pandemic has required IAWR 2021 to be held remotely. This is unprecedented.

Taking the pandemic safety protocol into consideration, the planning process and realization of the IAWR 2021 exhibition was carried out through a hybrid method of utilizing online communication and proceedings. The open calls, correspondences, presentations, curation and other organizing aspects of the IAWR 2021 designed to simultaneously maintain the integrity of the exhibition and protect the health and safety of the people involved during the pandemic. Indirectly, this exhibition presented a new form of connectedness between Indonesian architectural community in Indonesia and the world.

The IAWR 2021 exhibition is curated by Artiandi Akbar and Kamil Muhammad and features 66 works that are ready to be acessed online and offline. 2021 has generated different responses as well as reflections on how the architectural profession survives amid the global crisis. Through the exhibition, the curators attempt to understand the practice of architecture situated in a paradoxically connected yet alienating situation like today.
