WHY CLEAR SPACE?
The power of the Space Clearing ceremony arises from your clear and strong desire to enact change in your life. Your intention creates a field of energy that acts as a magnetic force for drawing your desires to you. What you focus on is what you will create. This is a basic law of attraction.
Space Clearing is an exercise in getting clear about your intentions and bringing in your heart’s desire, while also neutralizing prior negative energies that may still be in that space.
Science tells us that everything is made of energy moving at different frequencies/ vibrations. We and our environment are in constant vibrational interaction with one another and even slight shifts can affect our mood, mental clarity, prosperity, and overall well being. Space Clearing helps us to develop a more conscious and intentional manner regarding the space we live and work in as well as what we choose to place in that space (including our thoughts and behaviors). Energetically changing the context in which we place our selves changes the circumstances of our lives because we have created new pathways for energy to flow.
What we want is to raise and maintain the highest vibration in our person and in our environment. Space Clearing is a first step toward achieving this, but after the ceremony there must be an understanding of what nourishes the environment and a commitment to keeping the energy high.
Hold onto the metaphor of the house, office or temple as the larger body and a mast because that is the perception we are working with as we go through the rooms to transmute the energy and bring it into alignment with our heart’s desires.
There are many reasons people arrange to have a space clearing. One common reason is how stymied they feel amid disorganized space and clutter. Clutter makes it difficult to breathe, think clearly, and feel free and creative. It is symbolic of stuck energy and feels heavy and lifeless. Just the act of cleaning out the clutter in a home, office, and garage or storage area will bring a huge amount of vitality, creative energy and satisfaction to you and your home. But there is much more to a
space clearing than just getting rid of “stuff”. Have you ever been in a room and felt claustrophobic or scattered for no apparent reason? What about depressed, anxious or fearful? Maybe you have rearranged the furniture, added plants and paintings, but still something feels off. These are good signs that space clearing is needed. If you have had or have witnessed an argument or violence in a space, the energy of that event remains in that space. Clear it out. In some cases energy might manifest as something breaking repeatedly – such as plumbing. Maybe there is a space in an office that no one utilizes even though it was created for community. Or a place that is the site of frequent vandalism. Maybe it’s a house that is on the market that won’t sell, or perhaps people won’t come into your store. Maybe you just got a divorce and want to take full energetic ownership of the home you once shared. Maybe you work really hard but prosperity evades you.
These are just some of the reasons to conduct a space clearing. As an interesting aside, there is a traditional belief among sailors that changing a boat’s name is an omen of bad luck, and sailors pay close attention to these stories. The space clearing ritual in a boat not only transmutes the energy but symbolizes a marriage of sorts of the boat with the new owner.
