✨ This April (18th–25th), I’ll be offering a Reiki pilgrimage to Japan for our community 🇯🇵

It’s an opportunity to quietly explore the spiritual and historical roots of Reiki, while deepening your own practice in the places that shaped it.

We’ll begin in Tokyo, visiting Mikao Usui’s Memorial Stone at Saihoji Temple, before travelling on to Kyoto and the sacred mountains of Kurama and Hiei.

On Mount Kurama, we’ll walk the forest path that Usui once walked and take part in a private prayer ceremony in the main hall of Kurama-dera.

On Mount Hiei — the birthplace of Japanese Buddhism — we’ll have a private guided visit of Enraku-ji Temple, meet a Dai-ajari (a marathon monk who has completed the kaihōgyō), and participate in a Kaji Buddhist empowerment ceremony.

🌻 Traditionally, Reiki Master training was known as ‘Shinpiden’, meaning ‘Mystery Teachings’, and was only taught to those who had achieved a certain level of spiritual awareness. As such, Shinpiden focuses on the deeper, more spiritual aspects of Reiki, strengthening your connection with the spiritual energy, thus allowing you to rediscover the mystery of your True Self, and the universe.

You'll be introduced to the three sacred Level 2 Reiki symbols and their mantras, which will help you focus and amplify energy. You'll also learn a range of traditional Usui techniques to develop your intuition and enhance your self-practice and treatments on others. The course offers a 50/50 balance between theory and hands-on practice, and there will be the opportunity to give and receive a distance Reiki session.

You will be introduced to three of the sacred Reiki symbols — each with its own specific energy and purpose: enhancing power, emotional and mental healing, and the ability to send healing across distances and time. ✨ In the past few months, I have started moving my meditation practice more towards Zen meditation and have experienced some very profound shifts in energy.

📖 The book Practical Zen: Meditation and Beyond by Julian Daizan Skinner has been really useful in guiding me on this journey (along with the beautiful audio recordings for each practice).

🌀 There are some interesting chapters on duality and non-duality, strengthening your hara, and meditating with a koan, which will also be of interest to Reiki practitioners (or anyone interested in learning Reiki).
