Sleeping on your stomach may feel comfortable at first, but it puts your body in an unnatural position for hours. This posture forces your neck to twist to one side, placing strain on the cervical spine and increasing the risk of neck pain, stiffness, or headaches. It also pushes your lower back into excessive arching, which can compress the lumbar area and cause discomfort or nerve irritation. Over time, stomach sleeping can disrupt spinal alignment, tighten muscles, and affect your overall posture. For better long-term spine health, side or back sleeping is much more supportive.
