Our ladies were treated to a Look Good Feel Good morning at our Centre and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Just want to say a huge thank you to Annie Keegan and her daughter Jennifer, and her granddaughter Niamh popped into the centre this morning. Annie celebrated a very special birthday recently and she kindly donated €1570 to Arklow Cancer Support. Thank you Annie ❤️

Mary O'Brien did not begin with a strategic plan, a funding model or a background in healthcare. She began at her kitchen table.

From that table in Arklow, with two friends, Adrian Kenny and Francis Sweeney, O'Brien helped start what has become one of the most important local support services in Co Wicklow: the Arklow Cancer Support Group. Today, she is a founding member and director of services, and the centre supports up to 1,000 clients on its books, offering practical, emotional and therapeutic help to people navigating cancer and its aftermath.

The story begins in grief, but it is not defined by grief alone. O'Brien's daughter had a brain tumour and, during her illness, she spoke more than once about starting a cancer support service in Arklow.
O'Brien knew the outcome would not be the one her daughter hoped for, but after she passed away, that idea remained.
