On Wednesday 29 October, Minister of State Jerry Buttimer officially launched the Tipperary Disabled People’s Organisation in the Talbot Hotel, Clonmel.

The launch marked the culmination of a process of engagement with local disabled people in Tipperary who want to make sure their voices are heard and that they can play an active role in shaping local developments that affect their lives.

Among the speakers on the day were Derek Spaight and Marie O’Brien, both Tipperary-based disabled people who spoke about the importance of building a strong, collective voice. They encouraged other disabled people across the county to get involved and help Tipperary DPO grow into an active and influential movement.

Good on you Boxer Moran, considering those that plenty don’t.

Accessibility just got easier at St. Kieran’s Community Centre
Minister of State, Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran has sponsored two new wheelchairs for St. Kieran’s Community Centre in Athlone, Co Westmeath to help make life easier for those using the centre.
The donation will improve accessibility for those with mobility challenges who rely on the centre for social and recreational and services. The wheelchairs will be available for daily use and special events hosted by the centre.
Importantly, the new wheelchairs will allow users make visits to the centre without having to bring their own wheelchairs.
“St. Kieran’s does incredible work, and I’m proud to contribute in a way that helps people participate more fully in the life of the centre,” said Minister Moran.
