Delighted to finally announce the launch of our 8 Week Programme for teenagers who have been bereaved.
This 8 Week Programme will be facilitated by myself and fellow creative arts therapist Anna Shinnors Anna Shinnors Dramatherapy and will run every Monday evening from the 21st of June right up until the 19th of August.
The Workshops will be split in to age categories starting with the 13 - 14 years age Group from 6:00 - 7:00, followed by the 15 - 16 years age Group from 7:15 to 8:15.
Each Workshop will use arts-based-media as its main tool in supporting teenagers in working through their own experience with grief. In doing so there will be the opportunity to connect with other teenagers of their own age who are also experiencing grief. This is particularly significant for the time we are living in as there are limited supports for peer connection, something we know is vital in supporting us ALL in our grief.
Each week there will be a topic / theme that we will look at together, in a safe and gentle virtual space. This will be followed by two creative exercises that will support the topic / theme of the week. There will always be opportunity for sharing but that will be entirely up to the individual.
Places are limited so do make sure to book your spot by contacting Anna Shinnors on either annashinnors@gmail.com or 087-2156974, or by contacting Joanne O'Dwyer on either arttherapywithjoanne@gmail.com or 086-0772295

There is such beauty in this photo...but let's imagine the little girl starts to feel embarrassed that she has a camel for a pet instead of a dog like everyone else, or that she's a little too chubby, or that her headscarf is uncool, and she starts feeling embarrassed and shamed about herself. Her whole world changes in that moment...she's now saturated with feelings of inadequacy. STOP HIJACKING YOURSELF. Drop the hostile voice and stop comparing yourself to other people. Be your own best friend, your biggest support. You're absolutely fine the way you are. Make some beautiful memories...create joy. Simples!

Covid has profoundly affected how we all grieve for people we have loved and lost. Rituals - normally our way of working through the grief - are no longer available to us. For children experiencing bereavement, this is just as important a part of the grief process.
It is essential to ensure children do not get overlooked in the grieving process.
Talking to children in an age appropriate way about death enables them to understand and process this properly.
Dramatherapist, Anna Shinnors, and her colleague, Art Therapist, Joanne O'Dwyer, Art Therapy with Joanne will be running a number of programmes for children of various ages, focused on the area of bereavement. Each programme will last 8 weeks.
Book extract: A lot of things will change as a result of this pandemic and it’s clear the recovery won’t be marked by a discrete event

As we transition in to the new year we must remember that while it is good to set goals for ourselves it is vital that we do not create unnecessary pressure in doing so. The concept of new beginnings, change, transition can and does happen every day, not just “of a Monday” or on the 1st of Janua...

NEW ONLINE HYPNOBIRTHING COURSE STARTING SOON!
Hi everyone! I am now offering an online KGH approved Hypnobirthing course starting on Monday the 30th of November and running until the 21st of December, from 6 to 8h30 pm.
Hypnobirthing is a complete antenatal program that relies on the powerful combination of medical knowledge, logic and visualisation techniques. It helps mothers (and their partners) to let go of any fears or negative thoughts they may have around birth so that, when the time comes, their mind and body naturally work together in the most efficient way.
Looking forward to helping you achieve the best birth experience possible!
