Healthy Eating Tip!!

Rather than worrying about eating less, we should start to focus more on eating foods which our bodies can use to build and repair.

Here are 5 steps to get started:

1. At breakfast switch your cereals for either eggs, Porridge or a smoothie.

2. At lunch trade out your sandwich and replace it with a soup or salad that is mostly vegetables, meat or a combination of both.

3. For snacks lose the crisps, scones, and chocolate and replace them with fruits, vegetables, proteins.

4. Replace all beverages with water, herbal tea, or the occasional coffee.

5. Make sure you are eating frequent enough according to your needs. If you burn calories you must refuel, starving yourself is not a good approach for fat loss.

Eating Clean is a Lifestyle - It isn't Weight Watchers. :)) !!

Successful long-term weight management is achieved when we develop positive and consistent lifestyle behaviors that promote optimal health and wellness. Unfortunately, our bodies do not work along a calorie - or point system. So if you are still counting calories or points im afraid but you are most likely going to fail at some stage.

Managing our weight shouldn't be a constant struggle, in fact it shouldn't even be a thought in your mind. The sooner you start enjoying real food and tuning in to how it makes you feel your cravings for high sugar snacks and high gi meals will soon disappear.

Tao28 is not a quick fix, its a lifestyle that you can adapt and live with for the rest of your life.

Did you know that you can "see" flavours in foods before you taste them?

According to Professor Acree from Cornell University in New York, flavour depends not only on taste but also parts of the brain involving smell, touch and vision. It’s the sum of all of these things together with our emotions and past experiences that results in perception of flavours and whether we like or dislike certain foods.

In fact Professor Acree says that the eyes play such a powerful role that they can trump the tongue and nose in determining the appeal of a food!

So the old saying "looks good enough to eat" is quite right. Next time you are plating dinner, remember that presentation counts!

Research has shown the benefits of Strength Training for seniors, even those with health concerns can still safely Strength Train.

Seniors who Strength Train become stronger helping them in their every day tasks, it also increases bone density reducing fractures and improves glucose control in the management of diabetes.

Their state of mind also improves their self - esteem and confidence which strongly impacts their quality of life .

I for one am all for strength training wether your aged 9, 29. or 69, Everyone should be able to do some form of resistance training.

Did you know sleep deprivation has been linked to junk food consumption?

A new study shows an association between high calorie food choices after a sleepless night. The study identifies that after a sleepless night the part of the brain that governs complex decision-making is impaired, while the more primal part of the brain that responds to simple reward and desire is activated.

This activation of the brain pathway caused by lack of sleep led to poor food choices, with participants opting for high calorie burgers or sugary snacks over healthy low calorie fruits and vegetables.
