What is Play Therapy?
Play Therapy is a form of therapy which uses a child's most basic form of communication, play. Within the playroom a safe & non-judgemental environment is created focusing on the relationship between the child and the therapist. During sessions the child takes the lead and the therapist follows. This encourages free expression and the child is in charge of their own process. Play is used when there is a disruption in a child's development. Children often struggle to put into words how they are feeling and will use toys in the playroom to communicate and play out their struggles.

The following are just some of the reasons a child may be referred for Play Therapy:
Anxiety
Building confidence and self - esteem
Bereavement and loss
Trauma
Divorced or separated parents
Adoption and fostering
Develop social skills
Behaviour issues
