Well.... you asked for it and there's an unexpected twist in the tale. Elf was tasked with updating the security system in the Injury Unit given the missing teddy situation.

He tried out his surveillance on the innocent teds playing a game of dodge ball but then the biggest dodger of the lot came into sight!

He's back and life certainly won't be boring from now on! Wonder where he'll start throwing his weight around first?

You may be aware that our wonderful nurses also run an infusion and transfusion unit in Pod 4.

Patients from West Cork needing life-saving blood or infusion treatments get the best of care in a comfortable environment.

Elf's older cousin discovered his ferritin was in his boots in spite of red meat and liver in his diet so there was nothing for it but an iron infusion. Our elf and a host of very concerned teddies were in attendance.

A big shout out to the blood donors in our community without whom many of our patients would not have the quality or length of life that they do ❤️

Artistic flair was on display this morning when Marguerite opened the doors early! The elves and Teds have styled themselves loosely on Banksy, the famous graffiti artist.

The GreenED team will have a fit when they see that aerosol used in their high jinks 🫣

P.S. Red Ted is conspicuous by his absence...he was last seen en route to Dail Éireann with the Minister for Health. We think the fame may have gone to his head. Hopefully he makes an appearance soon, he's needed in BGH

The Bantry Hospital Wellness at Work Committee has been hard at work in the form of our new choir. We're working on a Christmas medley at present. When Elf heard the melodious tones emanating from the Training Room this evening he just had to join us!

Green and Yellow Teds started off well but got wayled by a bag of delicious mince pies. The only sounds from them were snores......

Elf is going to have a tough month with these well-meaning teddies!

Having travelled over Dublin en route from the North Pole and getting covered in grime in his balloon basket he thought he'd have a nice soak in bubbles before getting stuck in to life in the Unit.

The Pastel Teds have been doing a bit of research on Nursing practice and offered to help him with his bath.

By the time they were finished they had put the chapters on drowning and burns into practice too. Elf was grateful to have survived 🫣

You're not going to believe this, but he found his way back! Elf had heard about our Green ED initiative and was determined to reduce his carbon footprint this year. So instead of taking an airplane from the North Pole he has arrived by hot air balloon instead. Full marks for creativity, Elf!

The Paw Patrol dogs have joined the crew this year, they will be his husky sleigh team, fueled by dog food!
