Bookings are now open for the Tonn Nua Surf & Yoga Weekend Retreat 🌊

Join me for a relaxed weekend in Blacksod combining surfing, yoga, great food and time to unwind by the ocean.

This is a small, relaxed retreat limited to just 6 people, designed to give everyone plenty of time in the water, on the mat, and to properly switch off for the weekend.

📅 15–17 May 2026 📍 Tonn Nua Surf School, Blacksod

Over the weekend you’ll enjoy:
🌊 Surf lessons at Glosh Beach (3 minutes from the house) 🧘 Yoga sessions at the accommodation with  🔔 A relaxing sound bath 🔥 Sauna session by the sea with .sauna.11  🍽 Home cooked meals at the house 🏡 2 nights accommodation

All surf and yoga levels are welcome.
Solo travellers are very welcome too – there are already a number of people coming on their own.

💰 €350 per person €150 deposit secures your place Remaining balance due 2 weeks before the retreat

Quick question for you… 🌊

I’m considering running a small surf & yoga weekend next May (one weekend, max 6 people) ☀️

It would be very relaxed, with one surf a day, yoga sessions, a sauna, and all food included, all based out of my house 🏡 🏖️

All surf and yoga abilities welcome 🤗

I’m just testing the waters for now to see if there’s interest (pun slightly intended 🙃)

Great few days in Howth training up some new lifeguards with Atlantic Coast Lifeguards 😊

For me as a trainer on these courses it gives me a great opportunity to not only help people in their journey to becoming a lifeguard, instructor or be better on the water, but also to help keep my own personal skills up to speed 💪

Nice having the variety of the water rescue skills, fitness training and first aid training to get everything done right 👌

Also… Geimhreadh loves all the belly rubs and fetch on the beach 🐶

It’s a win win situation 😂

Had a brilliant weekend with a few of the volunteers from the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group🐬
They do amazing work locally and around Ireland with helping dolphins and whales 🐳

Everyone always wants to help wildlife in trouble but not as many people would have the experience/knowledge to notice when they themselves are in trouble and even less would be able to deal with danger situations in the ocean 🌊

So it was a great opportunity to teach a few of them about water safety and award them with an RLSS Water Smart Award 🥇

Let’s hope they can go forward with that knowledge and save some dolphins 🙏

Thanks for the opportunity and hopefully start of more work together

And that’s a wrap folks for the 2025 summer season 🥲

It’s hard to believe that was my 7th summer with Tonn Nua Surf School 🤯
As always thanks to everyone who joined me, Dan and geimhreadh 🐶for a surf over the last few months 🙏

Won’t be as active on social media the next couple of months between lifeguard courses, surf and travels it’s hard to find the time to pick up the phone 📴
But I’m working on something new for next year and will be letting ye all know the craic when I do 🤓

We had a really good time; both my wife and I had done some lessons before, to varying degrees of success, but always fun. For the kids it was their first time trying it, and we were a bit concerned that our son, who is very sporty and competitive yet self critical, would become annoyed and frustrated if he didn't succeed in getting up and going - our fears on that were needless - he was up and surfing on his first or second wave and delighted with himself!

Dan was probably the best instructor we've had - never before had we been brought through a warmup before getting going, and personally being in the process of recovering from a ruptured achilles, I was very happy to see this being done to get the bodies warmed up - though thankfully it was a nice sunny day already so we didn't have much to do.

The kids had an absolute blast, as we hoped they would - so much so that we went back to try rent boards the following day but it was all closed up unfortunately and we left Belmullet with just the one session, but hungry for more!

Ohhhh didn’t realise this was on 😅📸

Been a busy and great few weeks of camps and lessons at glosh 🌊

Dan has been with me the last few weeks. Delighted to have him on the water with me. The Shaka ratio is very high when he’s around 😅🤙

Great to call the beach your office and your friend a colleague 💪

Still have a few more weeks of lessons and rentals before the winter sets in and I close up 🥶

No better way to unwind after a surf than a session in the sauna 🧖‍♂️

On the 10th of August I’ll be doing a special offer for a 2 hour surf lesson and 1 hour sauna session with Sona Sauna 🥳

The 2 hour surf lesson will take place at glosh beach at 12pm 🌊
Then the sauna will be booked for us from 4pm ⌛️
This gives us plenty of time after the lesson to get dressed, refreshed, snack and get into town for the sauna 🔥

As always the lesson is beginner friendly
