It’s been a very damp windy couple of weeks here. I have been enjoying warming curries, stews and seasonal foods. Kale, squash and even to my family’s horror sprouts. I noticed at the weekend that the pomegranates and persimmons are back in the shops. Their beautiful jewel tones! Do you have a favourite recipe for them?

Just a little meditation, life has been busy, but it’s important to make time to be still.

So here is 3 minutes of stillness for when you need it.

The lung, is the receiver of QI from the heavens. It’s important on a physical level for taking air into the body. It’s also important on a spiritual level “inspiration”. The healthier the lung the easier it is to be inspired and feel vital about life.

The lung also exhales, and mirroring the season around us, it is a time of letting go. In old Celtic traditions, Samhain marks the end of the year. It is a time of reflection, what “seeds” did we plant this year that were most fruitful. Which ones didn’t grow. What seeds will we plant now to be ready for spring?

Letting go all that didn’t bear fruit for us. Forming seeds of ideas to plant. Autumn is a season to finish the harvest and take stock.

is amazing and she gives loads of advice for all kinds of women’s health issues. In this stitched video she talks about common period symptoms that aren’t normal. Because they are so common they have been normalised over the years.

There is help out there and lots you can do.

I picked up some squash, pumpkin and sprouts this week. Last winter I revisited my lifelong sprout dislike. I periodically do this because tastes evolve over time. In the case of sprouts, I had also read that sprouts to had been evolving to be less bitter than the ones of my childhood.

So I tried them roasted. And they were nice. I plan on making a squash curry this week. And a pumpkin and sage risotto.

What autumnal foods do you love?

Ladies feel free to interact with this as reels longer than 3 minutes don’t get pushed out by the algorithm.

Menopause has become a big business. So easy things you can do to help your symptoms well let’s share that far and wide.

Sleep disturbance has a big impact. For me there were two things that helped. Getting my body temperature under control and taking magnesium at night.

Sugar, caffeine and alcohol all affected my temperature. I have cut back.

I also use HRT. But that’s not the only answer. Even with HRT, too much of these would spike my temperature and it’s not worth it.

A good nights sleep leaves me feeling able to tackle my day. .

Celebrating world reflexology week! Reflexologists around the world are out and about promoting the amazing benefits of reflexology. Next year will mark my 25th year as a proud reflexologist! The time has flown by.
Reflexology was the first complementary therapy I trained in, and sparked my profound fascination with how the body works and how the body can break.
Reflexology helped me to understand the subtle ways of how the body can speak to us. And the many, many ways we pretend we can’t hear it 🤣.

So take this as your not so subtle reminder to book a wee session for yourself!

Autumn has arrived with a bang, it feels more like October than September most days. It’s a good time of the year to take extra vitamins a multivitamin or a vitamin c.
It’s easy to catch a chill, and the mini humans have gone back to school so germs are circulating.
If you like to forage, making elderberry syrup is a great idea.
If you have already been caught by a chill, I have long been an advocate for a medicinal hot whiskey. Or a ginger/turmeric honey tea.
In less than 2 weeks I am already thinking about resetting the treatment rooms into winter mode.

It a couple of days early but I lots of you are really organised with your meal prep. Loads of lovely options for us this month with seasonal fruits and veggies. Now that it’s starting to feel more autumnal I am starting to look at warmer heartier meals. Do you prefer a stir fry or a chilli?
I’m looking out at the rain thinking oh maybe a pot of chilli is in order.
Maybe you are one of the brave souls off to electric picnic this weekend. I will be tuning in on the radio to it. Whatever your weekend plans have a good one.
