Each winter in Ireland one in two young babies gets respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) - a common virus that causes respiratory infection in young babies.
Babies born between March 2025 and February 2026 will be offered nirsevimab for protection against RSV infection. The immunisation is safe and more than 80% effective.
