After a fantastic week of training where we met new and exciting practitioners during our Wild Earth Adventure Therapy skills training, we are invigorated once again to consider the difference that this training can offer to professionals; which in turn will bring positive impacts for young people and families across Ireland.

One of the most important things that is emphasised during of new and emerging therapists is the importance of high quality clinical supervision to avoid feeling isolated or vulnerable in professional practice. With th right support, we can make a wave 🌊 of change

Note: this serene image is titled ā€˜Peace’. It perfectly captures the paradox of adventure therapy practice: connection and isolation, simplicity and complexity, calm and detail.

Carving spoons in nature is a deeply immersive, creative process that transforms raw natural materials—often found in the forest—into functional, unique, and personal items. It serves as a form of ā€œdigital detox,ā€ fostering a direct connection to the environment, allowing one to work with natural materials like green wood.

It has been a fantastic week meeting our latest group for Intensive Adventure Therapy Skills Training this week in Kerry!

We are thrilled to support the practice development of creative and dynamic professionals through this training. The purpose of this programme is to enhance the impact of our approach throughout Munster and it is already clear that the richness of skill, insight, and creativity in this group will have a lasting impact in communities across the region.

We had a phenomenal response to this opportunity to avail of funded practitioner training places through the Impact Munster Fund with , and we will be building our training offering this year to increase the impact of adventure and nature based practices throughout Ireland.

As we started back into client sessions this week, I was thrilled to receive a copy of Individual Adventure Psychotherapy hot off the presses. Not only is this book composed of the writings and contributions of some of the most influential people in the world of adventure therapy who have shaped my practice and guided my understanding of this dynamic approach, my copy is signed personally with a note from each of the authors.
Although we capture impact and outcomes of our work, we rarely have opportunities to describe the detail and processes of our work. I was asked early last year to consider contributing a case study to this book, and it brings me great joy to read it again here in print, to close the chapter on ā€˜Facilitating The Experience’.

Sincere thanks to Gary Stauffer, Maurie Lung, Tony Alvarez, Kim Sacksteder, Anita Tucker, & Bobbi Beale.

In Ireland, the book is available to order from Easons & Dubray Books
