Today at Carnew Nursing Home, a group of schoolchildren from O'Reilly dancing academy visited and performed traditional Irish dances for our residents.
The visit created a lively and enjoyable atmosphere, encouraging meaningful intergenerational interaction. The music, energy, and movement brought great joy to everyone present and plenty of smiles to our residents.

Carnew Nursing Home proudly presented a donation of €2,500 to Carnew Community Care in support of the vital work they do within the local community. The team was delighted to contribute to such a meaningful organisation that provides ongoing support and services to people in and the surrounding areas.

It’s been a busy (and very joyful!) week as our residents and staff prepare for the Christmas season 🎄

From dancing and sing-alongs, to decorating our beautiful trees, to colouring, crafting and creating our very own nativity scenes — the magic of Christmas has well and truly arrived🎄💫

🐐🐇 Trip to Kia Ora Farm 🐥🦜

Last week, our residents enjoyed a heartwarming visit to Kia Ora Farm 🧡

We had a wonderful time meeting and interacting with a relaxed and curious goat, some bright and cheerful budgies, free-roaming chickens and fluffy baby chicks, and soft, snuggly rabbits 🐐🦜🐓🐇

Thank you to everyone at Kia Ora for such a welcoming experience. We’re already looking forward to our next visit! 🌾💚

🐾💛 Pet Therapy Sessions 💛🐾

Our recent sessions brought plenty of smiles as residents enjoyed cuddling kittens and guinea pigs. These special moments not only bring happiness, but also help reduce stress, lift moods, and spark wonderful conversations between residents and staff 🐹🐱

The photos captured here are a lovely reminder of just how powerful pet therapy can be for well-being and connection 💛

👩‍🍳👨‍🍳 A Taste of Home for Nursing Homes Week! 🏡

We joined in the celebrations for Nursing Homes Week 2025, and this year’s theme was “A Taste of Home.” What better way to bring that theme to life than with a Carnew Nursing Home Bake Off? 🧁

Residents from each of our wings rolled up their sleeves and got baking, and the results were as nostalgic as they were delicious:

✨ Rowan Wing: White Chocolate Rice Crispy Squares
✨ Oak Wing: Rice Crispy Buns topped with M&Ms
✨ Birch Wing: Rice Crispy Buns topped with gooey marshmallows

Every creation was a winner in our eyes! Which would you try first? 💛

🌸 A lovely afternoon spent at Springmount Garden Centre this week 🌿🪴

Our residents enjoyed browsing the colourful flowers, picking up a few bits in the shop, and of course taking time to sit back, relax, and soak it all in 💚

A beautiful outing filled with fresh air, good company, and plenty of smiles! ✨

🌿 Monageer Grotto 🌿

Yesterday, our residents enjoyed a beautiful visit to the serene Monageer Grotto 🪴🌺

From the fully accessible sensory walk to the woodland trails sprinkled with wildlife and fairies (and a little sunshine to top it off), it was the perfect day! 💚

What a treat! Our residents absolutely loved the visit from Ice Cream van today! Lots of smiles, laughter, and delicious cones all around. Even our furry friend got in on the fun! 🍦😊 It's these special moments that make life at Carnew Nursing Home so wonderful.
