It’s always lovely to receive thanks for a term of accessible chair yoga classes I’ve given. I recently received this beautiful hand drawn card from the organiser of one such group who was happy for me to post about the card but asked to remain anonymous.
So grateful 🙏🏼💓😍

Delighted to have been part of CPI’s pain awareness month and for the opportunity to teach online accessible chair yoga to people living with chronic pain in Leitrim. Leitrim Sports Partnership Chronic Pain Ireland

Thank You from Chronic Pain Ireland

As Pain Awareness Month comes to a close, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who made our “Beyond the Surface: ” campaign such a success. 💜

🙏 To our incredible Pain Ambassadors who bravely shared their lived experiences of stigma and the daily challenges of chronic pain – your voices are at the heart of this campaign.

🙏 To all the experts, facilitators, partners and speakers who shared knowledge and insights during our webinars and events – thank you for helping us shine a light on the hidden realities of pain.

🙏 To the media teams who amplified our message, and to every single person, charity, organisation and community group who liked, shared, commented, and helped spread awareness – your support matters.

🙏 To our funders:

- Pobal (SSNO Scheme) core funding helps us keep our one part time member of staff in place

- The Hospital Saturday Fund, for your sponsorship and belief in our work

- Leitrim Sports Partnership supporting our online accessible yoga for chronic pain

And to everyone who donated to help us keep our services running and continue supporting those living with pain

🙏 To our dedicated team who worked tirelessly behind the scenes – your hard work made every campaign moment possible.

This month showed us the power of sharing stories — but also reminded us how much work still needs to be done to . By standing together and speaking out, we are striving to push the conversation beyond the surface.

➡️ Our work doesn’t end here and donations are always welcome! Join us as a member, supporter, or partner, and help us continue breaking down stigma and supporting people living with chronic pain. Please continue to spread the word about us, it really does help.

Could chair yoga be right for you?……..

Anyone can try chair yoga. But it’s especially helpful for anyone who has difficulty balancing, standing for a long time, or getting up from or down on the floor, where yoga is traditionally performed. In one small study among older adults with osteoarthritis in the lower body (for example, knees and hips), doing chair yoga exercises for 45 minutes twice a week for eight weeks led to less pain and fatigue, compared to participating in a health education program. Another small study found adults with knee osteoarthritis were better able to carry out their daily activities after a 12-week chair yoga program.

In a third study, older adults experienced greater stress reduction after participating in a six-week chair yoga program, compared to those who participated in six weeks of chair aerobics, walking, or social games.
