🌻 LAUGHTER IN THE PLAY-THERAPY ROOM 🌻

It’s often said to me after sessions from parents - ‘I don’t know who is having more fun in there’ or simply ‘Is that what you do?.’ Parents can often feel at ease when hearing their child laugh as they wait in the waiting room. Lots of mixed feelings can come up for parents 🤔 💭

Here is what is happening ☝🏼

🌻Laughter is cathartic - that belly laugh consumes the body leaving feelings of happiness, satisfaction and enjoyment. The play can become less structured as a result as this is where the child truly lets loose of their body.

🌻 This can also mean that your child has learned a new cognitive skill and you as their parent can often see the changes at home. The wonderful thing is that the child doesn’t notice this because this occurs deep within their brain. This is how play therapy works as it restructures the brain, creating more effective synapses which allow for more positive behaviours.

This is the ultimate gift we can give to children - the freedom and expression to be themselves to bring about growth and healing ❤️🦋

Workshops for Children

*Drama Workshop with Ellen Foley - €5 (discount for families)*
Through drama, activities and games, we will be building confidence and team work skills while using our Imaginations and having fun. Based on some of their favourite movie and television characters, this will be a morning full of play and creativity. Children should wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Max 20 per workshop.
Workshop 1: Ages 5-8, 10 - 11am.
Workshop 2: Ages 9-12, 11.30am - 12.30pm.

Ellen Foley, Carrick-on-Suir just completed her BA in Theatre and Drama in the Cork School of Music. Ellen has been involved in the Arts within Carrick-on-Suir for years taking dance and guitar lessons when she was younger and in her teens joining Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society performing in numerous productions. Ellen has been involved in several projects with the Tudor Artisan Hub - in film and hosting workshops for Clancy Brothers Festival and Poetry Town 2021 and gets great enjoyment out of each project. When she is not studying or on stage, Ellen is a drama teacher in Bellvue Academy of Performing Arts, Clonmel and teaching assistant in the Montforts College of Performing Arts, Cork. In 2021 Ellen achieved an Associate Diploma in Speech and Drama Teaching with the London College of Music.

This will be a fun filled workshop. So don't delay, book your child's space as as you can. Booking opens again Tuesday 24th May from 10am.

SLIME so good the Easter Bunny approves 🐰

150ml of PVA glue
1 cap of purple formil
Mix mix mix

When it forms take it out of bowl and lift and fold.
If too sticky add more formil
If too wet add more PVA

As mess free as slime gets🤩

Yesterday marked the final day of my Masters in Creative Psychotherapy and I could not have done it without these three amazing women by my side, who I am now lucky to call best friends.

Some more sensory play!

Moon Sand Today 🌛

This is really similar to kinetic sand in texture.

It can be used for things such as;

💫Tracing sounds, shapes or numbers.

💫Building sand castles or moulding towers using spoons, cups or bowls.

💫Practicing measuring and learning concepts such as empty and full.

💫Transferring to different bowls with a spoon to practice fine motor skills and hand eye co-ordination.

Or just simply playing.😊

Hi Everyone 👋

I don't show my face often on here (I even struggled to find a picture of me on my own!🙈) but I said considering it is National Play Therapy Week, why not?😊

💫My name is Brigitta Nolan (Brie) and I am a fully qualified play therapist, a child and adolescent psychotherapist (almost, dissertation pending 🤫) and my background is in Early Years Education.

💫I trained with The Children's Therapy Centre in Westmeath () and they offer an amazing integrative training. The perfect balance of theory and experiential.

💫I run a small private practice based in Carrick-on-Suir which I established in 2019.

💫I work with children and adolescents from 3 years to 17 years and I adore this work. It is so rewarding and I meet so many amazing people each week.
