💖🌹 Love was in the air at Castleross! 🌹💖

On Saturday, 14th February, The staff in Killanny House got all ready for Valentine’s Day with beautiful decorations, chocolates, crisps, and flowers. 🌸🍫Picture 1 is the lovely Mary (Resident) & her husband Arthur (Not Resident), who shared a special moment together 💑 — a true reminder that love is timeless.

Love is in the air here in Castleross Nursing Home, Carrickmacross 💖

We celebrated St. Valentine on Thursday with "Afternoon Tea" & a 'hoolie' held in our Coffee Shop / Village Square🥰.

💕Thank you to our Kitchen Team who provided scrumptious sweet treats🍰🧁
🥰And to the wonderful Samantha from the Coffee Shop for the Tea & Coffee ☕

💖Our fabulous Activities Coordinators, Amy & Frances, showed their creative flair with their Valentines Day Themed decorations - including balloons table clothes, candles & music.👏🎈🎈🎈
💖🥰Our residents really enjoyed themselves and love to mingle with other houses on their trips to the coffee shop in the Castleross Village Square.
💖 Of course - our staff were not forgotten either - the Kitchen Team provided more lovely treats in our canteen - for our staff to spread more love🥰💖.

A look back at last week, when we had a lovely 'Tea Dance' afternoon on Thursday 💛 Our Castleross Nursing Home kitchen team prepared a delicious afternoon tea and set it up in the coffee shop that was filled with music and laughter. There was plenty of tea & coffee kindly prepared by Laura.

We were delighted to welcome the wonderful Evelyn Holland, who entertained us with her singing, and there was even some great dancing from Patricia, Margie, Betty, Maureen & Frances, our Activities Coordinator, and many more who joined in the fun 💃

A big thank you to everyone involved in making it such a memorable afternoon.

🎨 A Splash of Colour in Killanny House 🎨

There was plenty of creativity on display in Killanny House, Castleross Nursing Home, this week as residents enjoyed some relaxing adult colouring.

Adult colouring offers wonderful mental health benefits — helping to reduce stress and anxiety while boosting mood through a calm, mindful, and meditative experience. It’s a gentle, low-pressure creative outlet that encourages focus, supports fine motor skills, and provides a peaceful, screen-free break from everyday distractions.

Most importantly, it’s a lovely way to unwind, chat, and enjoy the simple pleasure of creating something beautiful together 💛🖍️

🍀 Happy St. Brigid’s Day from all of us at Castleross Nursing Home 🍀

This week, we celebrated the spirit of St. Brigid by making beautiful St. Brigid’s crosses, which were blessed during our Wednesday Mass with Fr. Linus.

Our creative fun continued in the coffee shop on Tuesday, where residents and staff made more crosses while enjoying delicious tea and coffee prepared by Laura, our wonderful shop assistant.

It was a lovely way to share a little tradition, creativity, and community with our residents. Wishing everyone a joyful St. Brigid’s Day 🙏☘️

💛 Celebrating Long Service 💛
On Friday, January 23rd Grace Healthcare Ireland Management Team had the pleasure of celebrating colleagues who have dedicated many years of service to caring for residents across our 10 nursing homes in Ireland, of which Castleross Nursing Home is One.
At the Christmas and Awards Evening in the Carlton Hotel, Dublin Airport, Chief Executive Officer, Rioghnach Murphy, and Chief Financial Officer, John Bishop, joined colleagues to honour staff whose commitment, loyalty, and professionalism have made a lasting impact on Grace Healthcare.

There’s been plenty of excitement over the last few weeks with Bingo in Creevy & Lisdoonan, and lots of smiles all round!

A big congratulations to Patricia, who won a box of Maltesers — and as you can see in the first photo, she was only too happy to share the treats with everyone else 🍫💗

Bingo is always a favourite activity, bringing laughter, friendly competition, and great company for our residents.

Earlier in the week, we shared the news that our wonderful Household Coordinator ❤️ Aleksandra Kornaga, from Castleross Nursing Home, Killanny House, was presented with a Heart Award at an event in Dublin to Celebrate Outstanding Care at Grace Healthcare Ireland Nursing Homes - of which we are one. 💛

On Friday, 23 January, the GHC Management Team hosted a special event celebrating their incredible staff across their 10 nursing homes in Ireland, with 145 colleagues in attendance.

During the evening, Chief Executive Officer, Rioghnach Murphy, presented the Heart Awards, recognising staff who were nominated by their colleagues for providing exceptional care, compassion, and professionalism.

Last Friday, staff from all of our homes came together to celebrate at our Christmas party – a fantastic evening of appreciation, connection, and celebration. As part of the night, further Heart Award nominations were made, recognising the incredible dedication and compassion shown across our teams.

An award was presented to a staff member from each home, and we are delighted to share that Alex, our wonderful Household Coordinator from Killanny House, received the award on behalf of Castleross.

We are so incredibly proud of Alex – she is an amazing Carer and Household Coordinator, and this recognition is so well deserved. Well done, Alex, and thank you for everything you do 💚

Maureen was all smiles on her way out of the hairdressers on Thursday — all set and feeling fabulous for the weekend 💇‍♀️💛

We’re so lucky at Castleross Nursing Home to have an onsite hairdresser right here in our village square — such a lovely part of everyday life and wellbeing for our residents 🏡

It was wonderful to welcome Marley back to Castleross this week after his little break 🐶💙

Our residents were absolutely delighted to see him return and are already looking forward to his next visit on Thursday.

A huge thank you to the lovely Marietta, who so kindly volunteers her time each week to bring Marley in to us – these visits bring so much joy, comfort and smiles to everyone
