Last week we were honoured to host a very special presentation for our friend and Castleross Nursing Home Resident, Michael Harris-Barke of Dundalk.

Michael was recently awarded the RNLI 50-Year Lifeboat Service Medal, recognising his extraordinary five decades of dedication and commitment to the lifesaving work of the RNLI.
As Michael was unable to attend a recent medal ceremony in Clogherhead RNLI , members of the committee kindly visited Castleross Nursing Home to present Michael with his medal in person.

It was a warm and meaningful moment, shared with friends who hold Michael in the highest regard.
We were delighted to see how much he enjoyed the visit, and we believe he truly understood the significance of the honour he received.

A sincere thank-you to Charley McCarthy, President of the North Louth Fundraising Branch of the RNLI, for attending and helping to make the occasion so special.

We were delighted to leave this review on the .hungryheifer

"Here at Castleross, we wanted to treat our staff to show our appreciation for all their hard work.
We asked the staff to pick what treat they would like, after all the great feedback from the last visit in the summer the overall majority voted for "The Hungry Heifer " to return.
The food was delicious, so fresh & tasty, Tommy & Amy were excellent and a pleasure to welcome here in Castleross."

What a fantastic surprise for our residents in Broomfield House at Castleross a few weekends ago 🏆

A big thank you to Tommy Durnin, who plays for Louth, for bringing in the Leinster Cup for everyone to see. The excitement and pride were written on every face!

Featured in the photos are Mary, John and Malachy, along with a few other delighted guests. Moments like these mean so much to our residents, and we’re so grateful to Tommy for taking the time to visit.

On Thursday at , we welcomed the wonderful Evelyn Holland to the Coffee Dock for an afternoon of music and relaxation. Our residents enjoyed a cosy cup of tea or coffee along with a delicious afternoon tea stand, freshly prepared by our kitchen team. 🎶☕🍰

It was also a lovely chance to make full use of our Village Square — a truly fabulous facility here at Castleross. With Molly’s Bar (our coffee shop), the onsite hairdressers, and plenty of comfortable seating areas, it’s the perfect spot for residents and families to relax, chat, and spend quality time together. 💛

Creating warm, social spaces like this is at the heart of what we do.

☕ Safeguarding Coffee Morning at Castleross Nursing Home 💙

On Friday morning last we hosted a Safeguarding Coffee Morning in our coffee shop in the Castleross Village Square.
Our Safeguarding Officers — Tibin, Aisling, and Claire — chatted with residents about how safeguarding is practiced here at Castleross Nursing Home, ensuring everyone feels informed, supported, and safe in our home.

It was a lovely opportunity to share information, enjoy good company, and reinforce our ongoing commitment to resident wellbeing and protection.

This November, we pause to remember those who are forever in our hearts. 🕯️

At Castleross Nursing Home, our Memorial Trees are now displayed in each house and in our Oratory throughout the month of November, in loving memory of all residents who have passed away since last October. 💖

🎃 Halloween Fun at Castleross Nursing Home 🎶

We had a spooktacular time here on Friday as Mickey the Butcher filled the Community Centre with his fabulous music and plenty of laughs🎤🎸

Everyone was welcome to join in — and as you can see, they certainly did! The place was packed with residents, families, friends, and neighbours all enjoying the fun.

There was still room for dancing though… even Dympna, our wonderful 103-year-old resident, found her way to the dancefloor - Picture 2 💃✨

A huge thank-you to everyone who came along and helped make it such a great day. ❤️

🎨 Pumpkin Painting Fun at Castleross Nursing Home “Village Square”!

Our talented residents from Broomfield House spent some time in the Castleross Coffee Shop getting creative — painting lots of colourful pumpkins for Halloween 🎃🖌️

A special mention to Mary, who even painted a beautiful picture for our new shop assistant, Samantha. 💛

A huge thank you to all our wonderful staff — especially our Activities Coordinators Amy (pic 2) and Frances — for helping our Castleross Nursing Home residents and their families make such lovely new Halloween memories this year. 🧡👻

🎃 Halloween Fun at Castleross Nursing Home 🎃

Some of our lovely residents in Killanny House — Mary, Eilish, Eva, Gabrielle, Julia and a few more — got creative this week, decorating pumpkins and getting into the Halloween spirit 🧡👻

And don’t forget — we’re hosting our Halloween Party this Friday, 31st October at 2.30pm in the Community Centre 🎶
There’ll be music with Mickey the Butcher, lots of fun, and plenty of spooky cheer🎵
All are welcome.
