Obituary - 9th November 2025

The death has occurred of Paddy (Patrick) Grealis, Main Street, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon (formerly of Swift Dry Cleaners, Castlerea) - 8th November 2025, peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Nancy and daughter Jacqueline. Paddy will be sadly missed by his loving daughters Nicola (Connell), Donna (McHugh) and Erika (Sweeney), his brothers Chris and Peter, seven adored grandchildren Kelvin, Clive, Kianna, Derek, Kaleb, Leah and Lauren, sons-in-law Seamus, Jim and Michael, and his sisters-in-law Kathleen, Bridgie and Mary, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends.

May His Gentle Soul Rest In Peace

Reposing in Gaynor's Funeral Home, The Square, Castlerea (F45 HH24) on Wednesday evening from 5.30pm to 7:30pm, followed by Prayers and reception into St. Patrick's Church, Castlerea. Requiem Mass on Thursday at 1pm followed by a private family cremation at Shannon Crematorium.

The Annual Memorial Mass for all deceased members of the parish will take place on Friday, 7th November 2025 at 8pm in St. Patrick’s Church, Castlerea.

All are welcome to join us, especially those who have lost a loved one during the past year. It’s a time to gather, remember, and pray together. 💛

Obituary - 28th October 2025

The death has occurred of Nora Gunning, St. Kevin's Terrace, Church Road, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon – 28th October 2025, peacefully at the North West Hospice, Sligo. Pre-deceased by her parents Patrick and Mary, sister Ann and her brothers Michael and Kevin. Nora will be sadly missed by her loving family, brother John (Renmore, Galway), nieces Geraldine, Marion, Christina, Mary, Patricia, and Pauline, nephews Jonathan and Patrick, grandnieces and grandnephews, brother-in-law Padraig Folan. her extended family, neighbours and her many friends.

Obituary - 19th October 2025

On the 18th of October 2025, Terry Byrne, Blarney, Co. Cork (ex. ESB) passed away peacefully after a short illness, surrounded by his loving family in the care of Marymount Hospice. Dearly loved husband of Evelyn and father to John, Sinead, Derek, Niamh, Ciara and Ronan. He will be sadly missed by his loving grandchildren, Karl, Megan, Emma, Adam, Ben, Sara, Abby, Sam, Joe, Erin, Molly, Teddy & Tess, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters-in-law, extended family and many friends and colleagues.

Reposing at the Wilton Funeral Home, Sarsfield Road of Jerh. O’Connor Ltd; (Eircode T12 KX08), on Monday (October 20th) from 5.00pm to 6.30pm.

Requiem Mass at 12.30pm on Tuesday (21st October) in The Church of the Immaculate Conception, Blarney, after which Terry will be laid to rest in St. Senan’s Cemetery, Tower.

The death has occurred of Sheila (Celia) Callaghan, née Rogers, Boho, Ballintubber, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon - 18th September 2025, peacefully surrounded by her loving family in the wonderful care of the nurses and staff of the Plunkett Community Nursing Home, Boyle. Predeceased by her husband, Austin, sister Patricia McGinty, and brother Tom. Sheila will be sadly missed by her sons, John (Boho) and Austin (Claremorris), daughters Katherine (Knockcroghery), and Julie (Atlanta, USA), beloved grandchildren Clíona and Seán, daughter-in-law Peggy, Katherine's partner Edward and Julie's partner Marshall, sisters, Peg Dobey (Lisalway), Dell Verney (Florida), and Catherine Flanagan (Knockalaghta), brothers John (Emlagh) and Jim (Mohill), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and many good friends.

Sheila will be reposing at her home (eircode F45D433) on Sunday from 4pm - 7pm. The funeral will be arriving to St. Bride's Church, Ballintubber, for Mass of the Resurrection at 12 noon on Monday. Burial afterwards in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Castlerea (travelling via Boho).

The death has occurred of John Silver, The Bronx, New York and late of Tarmon, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon - 7th September 2025, peacefully after a short illness. He is predeceased by his parents, Michael and Bridie, brother Gerry and his sisters Mary and baby Agnes. John will be sadly missed by his sons, John and Eric, daughter Arlene, partner Lynn, brothers and sisters Patricia (Pat Nee, Cloonard, Castlerea), Phil (New York), Ann (New York), Michael (Ballintubber) Brendan (Donegal), Catherine (Lohan, Four Mile House), and Breege (Tarmon), nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
