Exercise is so important after any type of Breast surgery, the earlier it can be started the less complications and shoulder/arm mobility improves

Women at high risk of arm and shoulder problems who started a physical therapist–led exercise program about a week after breast cancer surgery with no reconstruction had better upper arm mobility than women who received standard care, according to a study.

IF you have private Health Insurance, you may be able to claim a full or partial refund for items purchased from Bellisima as they are medical products, e.g. post surgery bras, breast forms, swim breast form, swimsuit, valletta top with integrated bra, soft leisure bras, compression bras etc. Contact your insurer to check and we can supply whatever receipts are required.

Did you know from January 2025, the H.S.E. allowances for women after breast cancer are as follows:

Women who wear a breast prosthesis as a result of breast surgery for breast cancer will now be allowed the following every year:

€400 towards 2 bras and 1 prosthesis every year. (This increases to €650 for post double mastectomy).

€150 towards the cost of 1 Swimsuit and 1 Swim Prosthesis every year. (This increases to €215 for post double mastectomy).
