Deirdre O'Donnell Play Therapist

Deirdre O'Donnell Play Therapist Wings to Fly offers Play Therapy and Child and Adolsecent Psychotherapy to young people experiencing Hello and welcome to my page.

I am a fully qualified Play Therapist and work creatively with both children and adolescents.I am passionate about supporting young people to heal emotional wounds and overcome adversity. Play Therapy offers a space for children to explore areas in their lives that they are struggling with or issues and/or big feelings they may be coping with but may not have the ability to articulate. I feel truly privileged to walk alongside each young person as they embark on their healing journey and it is with pure joy that I witness their growth and ability to overcome their struggles along the way. I believe that every child has the ability to and innate knowing regarding what they need to heal and it is within the context of my relationship with the child that they can access and create their own healing process. My mission staement is to accept every child and their family exactly as they are and where they are at this moment in their lives in a non-judgemental way. I aim to offer a safe and confidential space where we can work together to help the child and support parents through difficult times.

WILDLINGS

This goes out to the mamas
raising the wild ones
the not to be tamed
the rare
the reckless
and the precious

you are shaping stardust
into human form
minding moonlight
till it’s ready to instruct the tides
and light the nights

do not expect the world to see
your diamond in the rough
sparkle
not yet
they cannot

but one day
they will be unable
to take their eyes away
from its shine

to the mamas of the wild ones
you are star gatherers
moon catchers
and dream shapers

and you are exhausted

but shaping starlight
into human form

was always going to be tough

and you are.

Movement is key 🔑 physical literacy is the foundation for learning. The more we allow children to move freely and explore their environments the more prepped they are for learning

Are you ready to take time for YOU ?

Starting in September 13th so why not book your place now.

Share space with other ladies and support each other to grow and move within on a journey towards inner peace.

While approaches may differ, the importance of free time to play is increasingly being recognised

Fundraising Webinar!! I am facilitating one of our most popular courses “The Power of Special Playtimes” and donating ALL the money generated from it to UNICEF Ireland to aid them in their work supporting the children of Ukraine. I will facilitate the course next Tuesday, 15th March, for the normal fee of €30. This €30 will be a direct donation to UNICEF. In order to make sure that the course fees go directly to the charity we have set up an idonate page for the charity training event. You simply donate the course fee on the page, include your email address, and you will receive a zoom link to attend the training next Tuesday. Please see full information and link to the charity page in my bio. All support is very much appreciated. Please do share the event with as many people as you can. It is a great way to donate much needed funds whilst also getting to attend a very valuable training too!

“The Power of Special Playtimes”

This live online course will look at how we can make the most of a child’s most valuable toy, a willing adult. It is suitable for parents and carers and also for professionals working with children. The webinar will be facilitated by Siobhán Prendiville a highly experienced child and adolescent psychotherapists with a specialisation in play therapy. During the webinar we will:

💫Learn about the relational benefits of play.
💫Learn how to introduce, and experience play that will build healthy attachments and relationships.
💫Learn how to set up special playtimes.
💫Learn ways to maximise on the available time you have.
💫Learn how to integrate play and focused attention in your day and schedule.

The course is designed to equip professionals, and parents and carers, with helpful tools for the children in their care. It is ideal for parents, teachers, ECCE professionals , youth workers, social care practitioners and other professionals working with children.

I really hope that we can make this a big success. All support is very much appreciated.

Siobhán xx
