Day 1 of our EFR Recert complete ✔️🚑

A strong day revising the core skills that make the difference on scene. We covered Primary and Secondary Survey 🔍, refreshed Pharmacology 💊, worked through Bleeding and Shock 🩸, and sharpened our approach to Musculoskeletal Injuries 🦴.

Great engagement from the group with plenty of discussion and practical application throughout 👏

Back at it in two weeks 💪🚑

Some night for it 🌧️

Our crew were out covering the Kildare v Derry match in St Conleth’s, and to say we “braved the elements” is putting it politely. It was cold, wet and fairly miserable… but that’s what we do.

The team just got on with it as always, keeping an eye on the crowd and players and making sure everyone was looked after.

There was soup. There were sandwiches. Morale improved significantly after both. Operational planning at its finest.

As always its great to work with our colleagues in Red Cross NKT. Good teamwork, a bit of craic, and another match covered safely.

Fair play to everyone who stood out in that weather tonight 👏🚑

We held our Clane Red Cross AGM this week and it was great to see such a positive turnout.

Following the meeting, the committee for the year ahead is:
Chair – Greg
Vice Chair – Aaron
Secretary – Mark
Treasurer – Ed
Aine and Greg will represent the branch at Area level as reps to the area

Thanks to everyone who continues to volunteer their time and support the branch. From training nights to event duties, it’s the commitment of our members that keeps Clane Red Cross active in the community.

Looking forward to another busy year ahead 💪
If you’ve ever thought about joining, now is a great time to get involved.

Two of our Clane Red Cross members are in Portlaoise this weekend completing the Safeguarding Trainers Course. The safety and wellbeing of our teams is paramount, and having more members trained in safeguarding helps us support each other and the community even better.

Best of luck to them both over the weekend.

We would love to see as many people join the Miles and Smiles for Hazel event on the 29th August 2025 at the Canal Lock Gates in Kilcock from 0900.

Hazel passed away from pancreatic cancer in August 2024, and this walk/run is a way of honouring her bright, joyful spirit while supporting a cause close to her family's heart.

Whether you're in Ireland or anywhere else in the world, you can take part:
👉 Walk, jog, or run any distance — wherever you are
👉 Wear pink, Hazel’s favourite colour
👉 Or simply make a donation to support the cause

There’s no entry fee, just the chance to make a real difference If you're local, join us in Kilcock:
🕘 Half Marathon – 9:00 AM
🕘 10km – 9:45 AM
🕘 5km & 3km – 10:00 AM
Lets make every mile count for Hazel, and all those affected by ensuring they can access cancer support services when they need to. 💕

Yesterday’s session was a good one – kicked off with a short PowerPoint on festival drugs, focusing on harm reduction and what to watch for from Chloe Doyle Then we moved into some hands-on scenarios to put the learning into practice. Great engagement from the group and some solid discussions. 👏 Always good to keep it real and relevant.

Another great Thursday night with Clane Red Cross!
Thursday evening’s training was all about teamwork – we ran a few scenarios outdoors and indoors, giving everyone the chance to practice their skills in real-life situations. Loads of learning, plenty of laughs, and we wrapped up with a really useful demo on the pelvic binder.

Massive well done to everyone who took part – brilliant effort all round and to those who made it work the two chloes!

We train every Thursday evening from 7:30 to 9:30pm at the Irish Wheelchair Association Community Centre.

Thinking of joining us? Pop us a message or email Secretary.Clane@irishredcross.com
