Flu is circulating widely across Ireland with the latest HSE figures showing that hospitalisations and presentations to emergency departments from flu have doubled in one week mainly due to a new strain of flu.

It’s not too late to get vaccinated to help protect you and the people around you and we are strongly encouraging all eligible groups to get their FREE flu vaccine through the practice .

CLAREMORRIS SURGERY CLOSED - 18th NOVEMBER 2025

Due to a planned ESB electricity supply interruption, the Claremorris surgery will be closed tomorrow, 18th November 2025.

The Ballindine Primary Healthcare Hub will remain open and patients with appointments will be seen in Ballindine.

If you require an appointment, please telephone the practice on 094 9373984.

The Claremorris surgery will re-open on Wednesday19th November 2025.

TOWNLEY MEDICAL PRACTICE – CHILDREN’S FLU VACCINATION CLINICS 2025:

Our children’s flu vaccination clinics will commence in the Practice from Wednesday 8th October.

All children aged 2-17 years are eligible to receive a free nasal spray flu vaccine. School aged children should be offered the vaccine in their school and parents should enquire with your child’s school about availability.

If you wish your child to receive the nasal spray flu vaccine at the surgery, please call our reception team on 094 9373984.

AUTUMN/WINTER FLU AND COVID VACCINE CLINICS:

Our ADULT Flu/Covid vaccine clinics will commence on Thursday 25th September and will run on various dates throughout September / October for eligible patients as follows:

• ALL patients who are aged 60 years and over.
• Those aged 18-59 years who are at increased risk of influenza and covid related complications as per HSE guidelines.
• Pregnant Women.

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Dr. Tom McGuinness's mother Kathleen. Our thoughts are with Dr. McGuinness and their family during this difficult time.

SPRING COVID BOOSTER CLINICS:

Our Spring Covid Booster clinics will commence on Friday 11th April and will be held on various dates throughout April & May.

The HSE has recommended the Spring Covid vaccine for the following groups:
• Those aged 80 years and over.
• Those aged 70-79 years who have not received a covid vaccine in the last 12 months.
• Those with a weakened immune system.
