At the launch of the Live for Lorcan initiative, Fiona Kemski, our Group HSQE Manager spoke about the importance of understanding the why in safety.
Procedures and rules are important, but real change happens when people understand the reason they exist. When we connect safety decisions with their human impact, safety becomes personal.
That is exactly what the Live for Lorcan initiative aims to do by keeping the WHY at the centre of every safety conversation.

Electric Skyline is growing, and we are recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to support our Public Lighting and Utilities projects across our network.
This role suits an experienced, detail-driven professional who is motivated to manage costs, contracts, and commercial performance across a range of infrastructure projects. You’ll work closely with project managers and site teams to ensure works are delivered efficiently, safely, and profitably.
We were proud to hear from Mark Cullen, CEO of the Health and Safety Authority, at the launch of the Live for Lorcan initiative.
His words are particularly important this month as the HSA, alongside the Construction Industry Federation (CIF), places a strong focus on falls from height, one of the leading causes of serious injury and fatalities in construction.
Mark’s message reinforced why safety must always be more than procedures alone and why understanding the human impact behind every decision is so critical across our industry.

We were delighted to see the launch of the All-Island Working at Height campaign by the Health and Safety Authority and the Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland, in partnership with the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) and Spinal Injuries Ireland.
With construction fatalities increasing in 2025, there has never been a more important time to fully understand both the risks involved in working at height and the real life consequences when things go wrong.
This is where the Live for Lorcan initiative and Marian Deasy’s powerful advocacy continue to resonate across the industry, helping to connect safety decisions with their human impact.
We were also honoured to have Sean Downey with us at the launch of the Live for Lorcan initiative, where he reinforced key messages around working at height and the collective responsibility we all share to keep people safe.

Lighting up the future for Maree Oranmore FC
We are proud to have completed a major sports floodlighting installation for Maree Oranmore FC in Galway, delivering a facility that will support players and the wider community for generations to come.
The project involved installing twelve 1.5 kW LED floodlights across six 12 metre columns on the main full size 4G pitch, achieving lighting levels of up to 400 lux for both training and matches. We also installed two additional floodlights to illuminate the smaller training area to the rear of the main pitch.
Congratulations to Maree Oranmore FC on the vision, commitment and teamwork shown in delivering such a high quality sporting facility. It was a pleasure to work with the club and to feature Brian Carey, co chairperson, in our project video.
If your club or organisation is planning a lighting upgrade or new installation, get in touch with Electric Skyline to see how we can help bring your project to life.

Today marks eight years since Lorcan Deasy passed away, following the workplace accident that changed his family’s lives forever.
On this day, we remember Lorcan and reflect on why the Live for Lorcan initiative exists. It was created to keep the human impact of safety at the front of our minds and to remind us that the consequences of unsafe decisions are carried far beyond the workplace.
To support organisations in engaging with this message, a Media Pack is now available to download from the Live for Lorcan initiative webpage. It includes practical resources to support employee inductions, toolbox talks and everyday safety conversations, all focused on people, behaviour and personal responsibility.
If this message resonates with you or your organisation, we encourage you to explore the initiative and consider how Live for Lorcan could be used within your own workplace.
Today is about remembering Lorcan, honouring his legacy and continuing to make safety personal.
