Wishing everyone a peaceful, relaxing and happy day today.
Like it or not, it’s just one day, so if you’re missing someone special, I hope you survive and tomorrow will be brighter. For most of us Christmas isn’t the same after loss. I try remember Christmas past, when the Christmas tree would unexpectedly but regularly fall on top of my mother, and all you would hear is her calling for help. We would run to the room and separate her from the tree.
Trying not to laugh at her distress. What I wouldn’t give to have that cry for rescue from that tree.
Or think of future Christmas, a year can help so much with healing. Suddenly smiling and making new memories doesn’t fill me with the guilt of a loved one not here. Grandchildren, new partners, new friends all seem to fill the void.
Christmas changes and evolves every year.
I’ve lived many many Christmas years
From being very little at home to rebuilding my tribe after break up and loss.
For today
I wish you peace
I wish you calmness, even if dinner isn’t a as expected! I’ve had many years like that! Dry turkey, lumpy gravy…but no one notices (except me)
From my family to yours, Merry Christmas.
