Hi all.
As the country began to open up the past few weeks i’ve had quite a few people contact me enquiring if I am seeing patients in person at present. Just wanted to inform ye all that I am seeing patients face to face and have been since coming back in February. The same restrictions are in place as regards infection control as last year.

Hi all.

-Having decided to delay coming back after christmas due to the escalation in the pandemic I am happy to inform that I am seeing currently seeing patients.

-As per last year my appointments are limited due to extended disinfecting and cleaning between patient slots. Also patients will be sent a screening form before their appointment to clear them of any covid related symptoms.

-If anyone is feeling/ill unwell beforehand please contact me so we can decide on the best course of action.

Hi all

Glad to say i will be in a position to start seeing patients again as of monday the 29th of june. I will continue to see patients online where possible and will only see inperson appointments where the online option in not sufficient.

Things will be a little different in clinic as the following protocal will be in place.

- patients will be assessed over the phone or online before deciding if there is a need to be seen in person.
- during this assessment patients will be screened for covid signs and symptoms, if there is any suspicions then appropriate action will be advised.
- on the day of your appointment you will need to wait in your car as i will not be opperating a waiting area.
- Once i am ready to see you i will ring you and you may come in to the building.
- you will be required to sanitize your hands and wear a mask during your appointment, you can bring your own or masks can be provided if necessary
- At the door i will do a temperature check
- if all the above is met we will be in a position to treat as normal.
- during your session i will be wearing full ppe and the room will be fully sterilised between patients. As a result of this i will be operating on a lower patient capacity as i will need 15 mins between appointments

I understand the inconvenience this may cause for patients but in an effort to minimise the risk to myself and more importantly to my patients and general public it will be necessary. I hope you can all understand.

Look forward to seeing ye all again
Regards neil

With remote treatment being the only realistic option in treating patients at the moment it has brought up some unusual issues which you normally would not give a second thought to, one of these being tera band and how to get it to patients. As you can see from the picture the only option is the good old “an post”, easily taken for granted but getting me out of a pickle. P.s all pieses are handled with gloves when cut and placed in an envelope to try minimise any contact. Stay safe all..

Online consultations available (please share)

Take 2 (made a mistake with the first post)

Hi all.

Due to the impact of covid19 i will continue to be unable to treat patients in a clinical setting for the coming weeks at least. With this i have had to look at alternative ways of helping patients so i will be available for online consultations going forward if anyone has some issues they need to discuss. The make up of these sessions is as follows:

-If anyone wishes to book just contact me as normal.
-Iwill then discuss with the the best medium for meeting (zoom, facetime etc)
-Consultations will be done over whichever platformis most convenient during we discuss the injury, treatment and rehab program.
-Using an online database of exercises i can create the rehab program and email it.

So far using this with a no of patients the results have been positive once we ironed out a few glitches.

I would be very appreciative if every one could share this.

Regards Neil

Covid 19 Update.

Due to the ongoing and ever evolving nature of the Covid 19 outbreak in Ireland ive decided to make the decision to close the practice until the 29th of March upon which time i will review the situation along with HSE and Government guidelines. In the best interest of patient and my own/family saftey i feel this is the best decision. We all have a responsibility to do our part so if we can all abide by the guidelines, minimise social interactions and make sure to look after the vulnerable in society we can all help to lessen the pain. I apologise for the inconvenience caused and will be in contact with scheduled patients individually.

Please share if possible

Not for the squeemish, left bicep rupture during deadlift. Whats remarkable is its after the injury he realises it has happened. Just shows the lack of direct correlation between trauma and pain. Saying this im pretty sure this was pretty sore soon after!!!

STRENGTH TRAINING IN CHILDREN - WHEN IS A CHILD READY FOR STRENGTH TRAINING?

"Often, parents seek advice from a physiotherapist to ask whether their child should participate in strength training. There is no optimal age requirement for initiating strength training in children. The cognitive and proprioceptive capacity to understand and execute the instructed exercise in correct form is the single best determinant after ruling out contraindications."
