Let's be honest, there is a lot of anger in the world today.
Society is generally divided by social/political views.
Social media has given people a voice like never before to express their views and have their views supported by like-minded strangers.
Personally, I believe there is a lot of good in people feeling free to find their voice publicly on issues that they are passionate about.
Anger can be an appropriate way to forcefully make a message.
I ask, though, are people individually able to do that without losing reason? Do they end up being overcome with anger, and their message gets lost in the process?
Does society become caught up in the anger of others?
Angry with them or angry against them?
Anger can be intoxicating for individuals and society.
The video below is from the film Network.
It was made in 1975, USA, post-Vietnam, post-Watergate, at the start of a serious fuel crisis and when Cold War politics were a real threat. People had reason to be angry.
The male actor was a newsreader who was being fired because he had low television ratings. He ended up having a mental collapse, and let's just say he lost his head regularly on television.
He became an overnight sensation as his ratings went up. (Almost beating The Six Million Dollar Man :-) )
So I guess the message of this post is, yes do be angry if you are angry, but don't be overcome by it.
Don't just follow other people being angry to.
As a certain other character from the 1970's said:
"Don't make me angry.
You wouldn't like me if I'm angry"
I don't have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It's a depression. Everybody's out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar...
