Love was definitely in the air in Rathkeevan on Valentine's Day when we hosted our Couples Valentine's Tea Party. It was such a special afternoon for our residents and partners. Our chef prepared a delicious afternoon tea and there was so much chat and fun. The highlight of the afternoon was when the gentlemen presented the ladies with a red rose. So romantic !!!!

We had a 'Full House'! for our bingo this afternoon. Lots of prizes won along with lots of fun thanks to our wonderful volunteers Seamus,Una and Catherine. Just what the doctor ordered !!!
On such a wet and miserable afternoon we were delighted to welcome Brendan O Dwyer who sang his heart out and brought the sunshine in musical form to Rathkeevan today. We focused on Day Rooms and Rooms today and got such a great response to Brendans songs and guitar playing from every resident we visited. The power of music to lift our spirits and gladden our hearts is immense and we are very thankful to Brendan for sharing his musical talents with us.

We had a full house for knitting club this afternoon. Our 100 squares are finished and over the coming weeks will be transformed into blankets for Teddy and Winston, the gorgeous alpacas who visited us last summer. Of course all of this is made possible due to the commitment and hard work of our talented volunteers Jane and Mary.
For our Spring project we are making things a little more challenging and will be taking on Izzy Teddy Bear Dolls.These dolls also know as comfort dolls are sent both locally and overseas and are welcomed by volunteer organisations who distribute them to bring comfort to children in areas of need around the world. We can't wait to get started !

Such a busy and fun afternoon here in Rathkeevan. We had a double crafting class today. I showed the ladies how to make St Bridgets Crosses and we then turned our attention to Valentines Day Crafts under the guidance of our volunteer crafting teacher Helen , who was helped by our volunteer Liz.We were making table centre pieces for the tables ahead of our upcoming Valentine's Party on the 11th February.

We had delighted to welcome our volunteers Maura ,Bob and John today for their first visit of the New Year! They brought wonderful music and song along with a variety of instruments. It was such an enjoyable afternoon for our residents. We are so grateful to all our volunteers for bringing the fun and their wonderful talents to us here in Rathkeevan.

So much music and song here in Rathkeevan this Christmas!!!
We enjoyed visits from three choirs before Christmas and Sean Callaghan provided all the music for our Christmas Mass and singalong.Eddie Golden put on a great performance at our packed Christmas Party.
Yesterday our volunteer Tom O Flahery entertained a large group with our last in the 'Music in the Afternoon ' series of 2025. Looking forward to welcoming Tom back soon.
Today we welcome Brendan for our first session of the New Year . Brendan will be playing all the seasonal favourites in Dayrooms and private rooms so that all residents equally enjoy the opportunity to hear live music throughout each month.
Here's to a New Year filled with music !!!
