Healthy eating isn’t just a personal choice, it’s a workplace issue.

As part of the wider work of Healthy Ireland, there’s a strong focus on helping people build healthier habits around food
In healthcare and food environments, this matters even more:

✔ Better nutrition supports energy and focus

✔ It reduces fatigue and mistakes

✔ It contributes to overall wellbeing at work

Simple ways to encourage healthier habits:

• Promote balanced meal options during shifts

• Encourage regular breaks to eat properly

• Support staff in making informed food choices

Because healthier teams perform better and safer.

What’s one small change your workplace could make to support healthier eating?

Ongoing training is essential in today's fast-paced environments. It should never be a one-off event. Skills must be:

✔ Refreshed

At GROW Training, our focus is on helping teams build confidence rather than just ticking boxes. We are promoting our Team Lead Supervisor practical training course, which is delivered over three days. Midweek Reset

It's time for a midweek check-in: Are you reacting or leading?

Take 5 minutes today to reset by focusing on the following:
• Review your priorities
• Check in with your team
• Refocus on safety

Remember, small resets can lead to better outcomes.

Food safety & cross contamination

Cross-contamination is one of the most common and preventable food safety risks.

Yet it still causes serious issues across kitchens and food environments every day.

The reality?
It’s rarely a lack of knowledge, it’s a lack of consistent habits.

Simple controls make all the difference:
✔ Separate raw and cooked foods at all times
✔ Clean and sanitise surfaces between tasks
✔ Use colour-coded equipment correctly

But here’s the key:

Training shouldn’t just tell people what to do,it should show them how to do it in real situations.

That’s how knowledge becomes habit.

At GROW Training, we focus on practical, hands-on learning that helps teams get it right every day.

What’s the biggest food safety challenge you see in your workplace?

Burnout isn’t just “being tired”—it’s a workplace risk.

In healthcare and food environments, burnout can lead to:

❌ Mistakes in the work place

❌ Poor decision-making

❌ Safety risks

Supporting staff wellbeing isn’t optional, it’s essential.

Hand hygiene is still the #1 way to prevent infection—yet it’s often rushed or skipped.

In both healthcare and food environments, proper handwashing:
✔ Protects vulnerable people
✔ Prevents contamination
✔ Maintains professional standards

Ask yourself:
👉 Are your staff trained in effective hand hygiene—or just told to do it?

At GROW Training, we focus on practical, real-world safety habits that stick.

🔹 Food Safety Tip of the Week from GROW Training 🔹

Keeping food safe starts with simple habits!
This week’s tip: “Keep it clean.”

🧼 Always wash hands, surfaces, and utensils before and after handling food — even fresh produce.
Cross-contamination is one of the biggest causes of foodborne illness, and a few extra seconds of cleaning can prevent it.

At GROW Training, we help professionals across Ireland build practical food safety skills that protect customers, reputations, and businesses.

✅ Train smart.
✅ Work safe.
✅ GROW with confidence.

About Grow Training

Grow Training is a small local training service that provides life skill training. originally from The Northside of Dublin with a back round is mostly in health care where our trainer started as a health care worker and worked my way up the ladder to Community Supervisor and then to Care Manager. Working in this industry for over 15 years where our trainer had the responsibility for multiple areas in home care from recruitment , training to Home risk assessments and risk assessments for service users. During this period we trained as a trainer for a number of life skills to which we cascaded to carers in the companies we worked within. Our trainer has also free lanced in training for a number of other accredited centres and consultancy services nationwide. This year we decided that my passion was to train all professionals in life skills and opened Grow Training. Grow training is affiliated with accredited training centre and our CFR and FAR training is under the PHECC standards as we are PHECC approved trainers. We provide the following training:
