With Work place safety days quickly approaching, Heres something to think about

April 28 – Workplace Safety 🦺

On World Day for Safety and Health at Work, it’s worth asking a simple question:

Is safety something your team reads about, or something they live every day?

Risk assessments, policies, and procedures are essential.

But they only work when people:
✔ Understand them
✔ Believe in them
✔ Apply them under pressure

Because in real working environments whether healthcare or food services decisions are made quickly.

And that’s where safety culture matters most.

A strong safety culture means:
• Staff feel confident to speak up
• Risks are spotted early
• Safe choices become the norm—not the exception

At GROW Training, we focus on building that confidence through practical, real-world training.

What’s one thing that could improve safety in your workplace today?

Love this post by Travis Bradberry and thank you for sharing it.

having worked in the care industry for so long, sometimes you become numb to empathy! That is not always ok! Even some care companies can become very financial driven!! hours hours hours.

I've been very fortunate to work for some good care companies that still put empathy at the forefront of their values.

Empathy isn’t just feeling sorry for someone, it’s stepping into their world, even for a moment.

It’s listening without interrupting.
It’s understanding without judging.
It’s seeing life through someone else’s eyes.

Sometimes empathy is quiet.
Sometimes it’s heavy.
But it’s always powerful.

Let’s choose to understand a little more and assume a little less.🤍

7 April – World Health Day 🌍

Today marks World Health Day, a global reminder that health is not just personal, it’s shaped by the environments we work in every day.

Whether in healthcare settings or the food industry, workplace health plays a critical role in:

✔ Safety

✔ Performance

✔ Overall wellbeing

But being “health aware” goes beyond policies.

It’s about the small, consistent actions we take daily.

Here are a few simple ways to be more health aware at work:

• Prioritise hygiene and infection control practices

• Take short breaks to avoid fatigue and burnout

• Stay alert to risks—both for yourself and others

• Speak up if something doesn’t feel safe

Because healthier teams don’t just feel better, they work safer and perform better.

At GROW Training, we believe building awareness is the first step to creating safer, stronger workplaces.

What’s one small change you can make today to support your health at work?

🧠 Parkinson’s Awareness Week | 7–12 April

This week is an opportunity to raise awareness and deepen our understanding of Parkinson’s and other long-term neurological conditions.

In the workplace, awareness is only the first step, empathy and support are what truly make a difference.

At GROW Training, we believe in creating environments where individuals feel understood, respected, and supported, especially when managing long-term health conditions.

So what can workplaces do?

✔ Build awareness and understanding across teams

✔ Foster open, supportive conversations

✔ Offer flexibility where possible

✔ Focus on abilities, not limitations

For many people living with Parkinson’s, the challenges are not always visible. A supportive workplace culture can have a huge impact on confidence, wellbeing, and overall quality of work life.

Sometimes, it’s the small things, patience, understanding, and a willingness to adapt, that make the biggest difference.

Let’s continue to create workplaces where empathy leads the way.

🌍 World Autism Awareness Day | 2 April

Today is a reminder of the importance of understanding, inclusion, and embracing neurodiversity in our workplaces.

At GROW Training, we believe that every individual brings unique strengths, perspectives, and talents. Creating an inclusive workplace isn’t just the right thing to do, it leads to stronger teams, better ideas, and a more supportive culture for everyone.

So what does inclusion really look like in practice?
✔ Creating environments where people feel safe to be themselves
✔ Building awareness and understanding of neurodiversity
✔ Adapting communication and work styles to support different needs
✔ Encouraging openness, empathy, and respect across teams

The use of social stories are very useful

Small changes can make a big difference, whether that’s clearer communication, flexible working approaches, or simply taking the time to listen and understand.

Let’s continue to build workplaces where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive.

💡 Wellbeing Tip of the Week: The 90-Minute Focus Rule

In today’s fast-paced work environment, staying productive without burning out can feel like a challenge. One simple but powerful technique we often recommend at GROW Training is the “90-minute focus rule.”

The idea is straightforward:
Work in focused blocks of 60–90 minutes, then step away and take a proper break.

Why does this work so well?

✔ Improves productivity – Working in dedicated, distraction-free blocks helps you get more meaningful work done in less time
✔ Reduces burnout – Regular breaks prevent mental fatigue and help you sustain energy throughout the day
✔ Boosts concentration – Your brain isn’t designed to focus endlessly—structured breaks actually improve your ability to stay sharp

During your focus time:
🔹 Turn off notifications
🔹 Prioritise one key task
🔹 Avoid multitasking

Then, when it’s time for a break:
✔ Step away from your screen
✔ Stretch or take a short walk
✔ Get some fresh air or hydrate

Even a 5–10 minute reset can make a noticeable difference to your energy and mindset.

It’s not about working harder—it’s about working smarter and supporting your wellbeing at the same time.

Give it a try today and see how it impacts your focus and productivity 👇
We’d love to hear how you get on!

Healthy eating isn’t just a personal choice, it’s a workplace issue.

As part of the wider work of Healthy Ireland, there’s a strong focus on helping people build healthier habits around food
In healthcare and food environments, this matters even more:

✔ Better nutrition supports energy and focus

✔ It reduces fatigue and mistakes

✔ It contributes to overall wellbeing at work

Simple ways to encourage healthier habits:

• Promote balanced meal options during shifts

• Encourage regular breaks to eat properly

• Support staff in making informed food choices

Because healthier teams perform better and safer.

What’s one small change your workplace could make to support healthier eating?

About Grow Training

Grow Training is a small local training service that provides life skill training. originally from The Northside of Dublin with a back round is mostly in health care where our trainer started as a health care worker and worked my way up the ladder to Community Supervisor and then to Care Manager. Working in this industry for over 15 years where our trainer had the responsibility for multiple areas in home care from recruitment , training to Home risk assessments and risk assessments for service users. During this period we trained as a trainer for a number of life skills to which we cascaded to carers in the companies we worked within. Our trainer has also free lanced in training for a number of other accredited centres and consultancy services nationwide. This year we decided that my passion was to train all professionals in life skills and opened Grow Training. Grow training is affiliated with accredited training centre and our CFR and FAR training is under the PHECC standards as we are PHECC approved trainers. We provide the following training:
