Cork Centre For Independent Living Cork CIL is a HSE-funded, not for profit organisation. The Independent Living Movement has a well-established history, pioneered by and for disabled people.

Cork CIL specialises in working with people with disabilities aged 18-65 in their homes and in the community offering supports to promote independent living, choice, and control in their daily lives In Dublin in emerged as a movement in 1992 and the Cork the Cork Centre for Independent Living followed in 1996. Driven by a group of people with physical disabilities their aim was to raise awareness about the Independent Living Movement, advocate for services to facilitate their independence and to establish a support network to empower peers. The purpose of Cork CIL remains to work to ensure that disabled people achieve independence, choice and control over their lives and full participation in society as equal citizens. At the centre of the Independent Living Philosophy are people, and disabled people like everyone else being able to have control, with the opportunities to make decisions about to how they live their life. Cork Centre for Independent Living is a community-based service. We work mainly in the south Lee area of Cork city providing Assisted Living Services on behalf of the HSE and work to ensure that the philosophy of independent living underpins our services. This page is to create a community, a welcoming and authentic environment for all Service Users, staff, stakeholders, and friends of CCIL to share information and connect. CCIL intends to use this page to share information and developments . Posts from followers are welcome and will make this a shared and engaging space, we want to hear your good news stories and topics that are relevant to Cork CIL, its PAs and Service Users, the disability sector as a whole and the Cork local community. Introducing the DigiCoach project

Getting started with assistive technology can feel overwhelming, and even experienced users sometimes find it hard to get the most out of their devices. To help, Fighting Blindness is delighted to be part of the DigiCoach project.

Through DigiCoach, we offer free, one-to-one peer coaching on all aspects of assistive technology. Coaching is fully confidential and can be delivered by phone, on Zoom, or in person (limited availability).

We are delighted to announce that our Autumn Disability Support Series is back!

Announcing Cork Sports Partnership's 2025 Autumn series.

"... we are delighted to collaborate with Boccia Ireland, Badminton Ireland, and Volleyball Ireland for a series of disability-inclusive coaching workshops.
These coaching workshops are suitable for:
• Disability Service Staff
• Special School Staff
• Special Education Staff
Workshops will cover the skills and rules of badminton, boccia, and seated volleyball, as well as suitable games and activities to use in sessions.
Staff will receive equipment packs to use in their service or school after the workshop.
In addition to sport-specific workshops, in collaboration with Active Disability Ireland, we are delighted to offer two online workshops in:
• Sport Inclusion and Disability Awareness
• Inclusive Fitness.
These online webinars are suitable for coaches, disability service staff, club volunteers, teachers, SNAs, PTs, fitness instructors, or any individual striving to support people with disabilities in sport, physical activity, or exercise.

In collaboration with Athletics Ireland, Boston Scientific and MTU, the Rebel Run a Mile challenge will take place this year over the Spring and Summer months and that registration is now open.
The challenge encourages disability service users to engage in a six-week walk-to-jog programme with the aim of participating in a final celebratory mile event on the track in MTU Cork. The challenge is open to adults of all abilities, with the option to jog, walk or roll the final mile.
Training for the challenge will begin this year on the week of April 28th, with the final mile event being held in MTU Cork in June. Each service user registered will receive a training booklet, medal, t-shirt and entry to the MTU event. Each staff member registered will receive a leader's t-shirt.
Programme Details:
• Start date: Recommended that training begins the week of April 28th and runs for 6 weeks.
• Mile Event: Wednesday, June 11th and Thursday, June 12th. Registered services will be allocated a date for their mile in May.
• Location: MTU Track, Cork
• Time: 11 am

Cork Sports Partnership are delighted to announce a collaboration with FutureNeuro for their Cork My Moving Brain event, which is taking place this month.

Through research, the vision of FutureNeuro is to change the journey of those impacted by neurological conditions such as the epilepsies, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, motor neuron disease, neuropsychiatric conditions and traumatic brain injury.

My Moving Brain aims to raise awareness of brain health and promote inclusivity in sports for individuals of all ages impacted by brain conditions.

What to Expect?
• Inspiring talks on brain health and sports inclusion.
• Table tennis, orienteering and pitch and putt
• Hands-on science experiments.
Event Details:
• Saturday, March 22nd

• 1.30 - 5.00pm
