Wondering what a typical workday of an ALH carer looks like?🏡 Take a look at the sample daily plan 👉
Remember, ALH carers work 5 to 6 days a week, for a minimum of 35 hours. Usually, our seniors are looked after by their families on weekends, and the carers have time off for themselves. When overtime is needed, we pay for it additionally!💸

Today, on World Stroke Day 🧠 we turn our special attention to our beloved seniors, who are most at risk of this sudden and dangerous event.

Stroke is a race against time, and most strokes in older adults manifest in the same, characteristic way. If you recognize one of the symptoms, be sure to:
📞 Call Emergency Services Immediately (112) Inform the dispatcher of a suspected stroke. This is a priority that will speed up the assistance.
🚫 Give Nothing to Eat or Drink Do not give medication (even for blood pressure) or liquids to avoid the risk of choking.
🛌 Position Safely If the person is conscious, lay them down with their head slightly raised. If they are unconscious, place them in the recovery position (on their side).
⏳ Note the Time Remember when the first symptoms appeared. This information is critical for doctors to administer effective treatment.

In the case of a stroke, every minute counts. Rapid action—reaching a hospital equipped with a stroke unit within the so-called "therapeutic window" (about 4.5 hours)—can prevent disability or death.

Do you think Ireland is just about shamrocks, Guinness, and rain? Wrong! Discover 5 of the most surprising facts that might change your view of the Emerald Isle! 👇

1️⃣ Ireland is the only country in the world to have a musical instrument (the harp) as its national symbol. Not the shamrock leaf! Visit Trinity College in Dublin to see the oldest harp that became the model for the coat of arms!

2️⃣ Saint Patrick was British. The Patron Saint of Ireland was born in Roman Britain. He was kidnapped and brought to the island as a slave.

3️⃣ Although Guinness is a symbol of Ireland, the country is not the leader in its consumption. More of this famous dark stout is sold in... Nigeria!

4️⃣ Ireland is the cradle of Halloween, not the USA! The roots of Halloween go back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, which marked the end of the harvest and the beginning of winter. It was Irish emigrants who brought this tradition to the USA, where it gained global popularity.

5️⃣ Punctuality? Time is flexible (Irish Time). If people in Southern Europe are accustomed to mañana, the Irish have their own concept of time: "Irish Time." Don't be surprised if meetings start with a slight delay. Relationships and the moment are valued more than strictly adhering to the clock.

Start your own adventure on the surprising Emerald Isle!

Dear Caregivers! 💚 This famous, simple quote perfectly captures the essence of your work at ALHomecare. You leave your homes to provide our seniors in Ireland with what is most precious: your presence and the certainty that they have someone close by 💚

Your job is more than just duties. It's the warmth of a hand, a shared coffee, and the feeling that someone is there to care for them. It is thanks to this that you, too, feel safe and needed in the homes of our Irish families.

Please know that we at ALHomecare also want to be sure that you are with us and feel our support every step of the way! 💚

Thank you for creating a Home away from Home with such a big heart. 💚

Today, we mark a very important day for our seniors. It's World Osteoporosis Day (WOD), an annual global campaign organised by the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) since 1996 🌎
This initiative runs in over 90 countries and aims to raise awareness of bone health, osteoporosis prevention, and its treatment 🦴

🦴3 Fundamental Principles for Strong Bones🦴
Today, we're focusing on the 3 fundamental principles that positively impact bone health and can help prevent this 'silent' disease:
🍜A Healthy Diet
Ensure your meals are rich in Vitamin D and Calcium—the building blocks of strong bones.
💪 Regular Physical Activity
Prioritise weight-bearing exercises (like walking or light strength training), which stimulate your bones to strengthen.
❌ Avoiding Harmful Risk Factors
Say no to factors that weaken your skeleton, such as smoking and excessive alcohol consumption.

Let's look after our bone health to enjoy mobility and independence for years to come!💓
