I often see runners on a daily basis for sports massage, whether they are training for a marathon or working on a couch-to-5k. And they regularly tell me how sports massage helps them with their recovery.

Sports massage helps clear metabolic wastes and can reduce pain and inflammation, which is associated with muscle fatigue. As you grow stronger from running, recovery is an important part of the process.

When should runners get sports massage?
πŸƒ During training: every 3-4 weeks
πŸƒ Pre-race: 5-10 days before the race
πŸƒ Post-race: 3-4 days after the race

And we don’t forget the importance of proper stretching and other modalities to help with recovery

Every-body can benefit from deep tissue massage (the pressure is varied to the individual). Chronic tension, stiffness and soft tissue adhesions β€œknots” don’t always go away by themselves, no matter how much stretching you do. Personally I make sure I get regular deep tissue work done to tackle any areas of tension that start to build up from daily life.

Some benefits of deep tissue massage include:
πŸ™Œ Relieve chronic and acute pain
πŸ™Œ Faster recovery from injuries
πŸ™Œ Promote circulation within soft tissue (faster healing)
πŸ™Œ Break up scar tissue & adhesions
πŸ™Œ Reduce stress and tension

I love going deep with my clients and helping them find amazing relief. You can book in with me in and in Ballincollig and from in Cobh.
