A Brief story about a Place Called Gobind Sadan, Which Means “Divine Garden” or God's Garden.
I wanted to share this story on Christmas (though I didn’t have time during or after my trip).
This place was founded by the saint Baba Virsa Singh in 1968 in South Delhi. A boy born in a small village, Baba Virsa Singh possessed extraordinary sensitivity and compassion, even for cut grass. One day, upon seeing the sap flowing from freshly cut fodder, he felt deep pain and begged God to free him from this work. Almost immediately, sores appeared on his feet, preventing him from continuing the task. This marked the beginning of his intense meditation, both day and night. Invisible teachers and guides began to visit him.
Over time, he developed the ability to heal incurable diseases and even bring people back to life. Those who witnessed these miracles recognized his immense spiritual power.
In 1968, he began transforming barren lands into the Divine Garden. He decided not to build an opulent temple but instead created gardens and farms to help the poor live, work, and assist others.
Baba Virsa Singh often said that the Light of God is One and cannot be divided or claimed by any single religion. For this reason, he built many small prayer spaces for various world religions within the garden, uniting them under the dome of Gobind Sadan. He encouraged everyone to lovingly chant the Name of God:
**Ik Onkar Sat Naam Siri Waheguru**
*God is One, God is Truth, He is the Supreme Teacher (indescribable in words).*
Gobind Sadan is home to two Eternal Sacred Fires—one over 60 years old and the other over 30. Both are tended by locals and visitors in two-hour shifts, adding oil, herbs, reciting prayers, and meditating.
One day, water began to flow from a single rock, revealing a holy spring. (The water we brought home has remained fresh for two years without signs of aging.) Babaji declared that a statue of Jesus Christ would be placed there. The water is said to have healing properties, and many miracles and healings have been recorded near the statue. The energy of this place is palpable, at times overwhelming.
