We recently celebrated Valentine’s Day, and at ALHomecare, we believe it’s the perfect opportunity to say a heartfelt "thank you" for the dedication and love our Carers pour into their work every single day ❤️

We held a special Valentine’s giveaway, and today we are absolutely thrilled to introduce our winners! 😍 Please meet Judite and Maria! ✨

To make the day extra special, a surprise courier arrived at the homes where they are currently working, delivering:

Did you know that Friday the 13th is a superstitious day in Ireland? 🐈‍⬛ If you are already working with us on the Emerald Isle, you might have noticed that many Irish people take their superstitions quite seriously! While they are incredibly warm and cheerful, today you might see some folks avoiding ladders or keeping a sharp eye out for black cats crossing their path. 🇮🇪

✨ How to "De-mystify" the day with your Senior?
As a caregiver, you have the superpower to turn any day into a joyful one. If your client seems a bit worried about the date, try these "Lucky Rituals" to bring some extra good vibes into the home:

The Gratitude 13 – Together with your senior, name 13 small things you are grateful for today. It’s a guaranteed mood-booster! 💛

The Perfect Irish Cuppa – In Ireland, a proper cup of tea solves everything. Brew a fresh pot with extra care to "undo" any bad luck. ☕

A Stroll for Good Omens – Take a short walk and look for positive signs: a robin in the garden, a beautiful flower, or a friendly neighbour's wave. 🌷

Golden Memories – Ask your senior to tell you about the happiest day of their life. Sharing stories is the best shield against superstitions!

The Laughter Cure – Watch a light comedy together or share some jokes. Laughter is the most powerful luck-bringer there is!

You’ve likely heard that today is Blue Monday, supposedly the most depressing day of the year. At Alhomecare, we don’t buy into those forecasts! Instead of giving in to the gloom, we invite you to join the Irish initiative, Brew Monday! 🫖

Brew Monday was started by the organization Samaritans 🍀 The idea is to combat loneliness by encouraging everyone to connect over a cup of tea (or coffee) and a chat. That’s why today, we encourage you to:
🫖 brew your favorite tea or coffee
🫖 take a quiet moment – ideally in the company of your client or a loved one
🫖 have a pleasant chat about something nice
A warm mug in your hands and a good conversation are the best ways to beat the winter weather! 💙

Don’t let the Blue Monday mood get to you. Remember, a shared moment over tea can work wonders and brighten even the grayest day.

January brings dark evenings, but not in Ireland! 🍀 A few days ago, this year’s edition of Ireland Lights Up kicked off – the perfect opportunity for safe outdoor activity, especially for seniors.

Why join in? 📍 Over 1,000 clubs across Ireland are turning on their floodlights, providing well-lit and flat walking tracks for the community. 🛡️ Safety first: The tracks are traffic-free and perfectly visible, meaning no risk of tripping in the dark. 🏠 Fresh air and movement is the best therapy for the winter blues!

The initiative runs from January 7th to February 11th across all 32 counties!
