Love is to fear as light is to darkness. In the presence of one, the other cannot be.

No matter where you go today, silently bless no matter who you come into contact with and watch how the energy will shift around you.

All minds are joined. People subconsciously know everything. Practice walking around, looking at people and thinking to yourself “The love in me salutes the love in you.”

All thought creates form on some level; every thought takes us and those around us either to greater happiness or greater fear. The problem is that we think thought is neutral, which leads us to indulge all kinds of mind wandering. In our minds, we are constantly attacking ourselves and others with judgment and blame.

Just don’t do it today. Look at your mind as a car that you get to drive. Just gently witness your mind; if you see a thought that isn’t proactively loving, then change it. It takes work because it’s like training a muscle; we’re change our mental habits. And if we meditate in the morning, of course then it’s much easier.

Simply try it today. I promise you you will be happier.

Have you heard of our Group Radical Openness (GRO) group therapy programme?

This programme, facilitated by the Department of Psychology in St Patrick’s University Hospital, is for people who struggle with mental health difficulties associated with harmful and costly overcontrol. This includes keeping others at a distance, having trouble showing emotions and a strong desire for control.

Facilitated through group sessions, it aims to help you develop flexibility in three key areas such as improving your relationships, softening rules and learning to experience and express emotions in a way that feels safe.

Attachment & Addiction

In his book The Realm of Hungry Ghosts Gabor Mate (2010) sees addiction as “one of the most misunderstood phenomena in our society.” He goes on to say that many professionals, who should know better, believe addiction to be a matter of an individual’s choice or a medical disease and he suggests it is more multifaceted than that. For Mate, addiction is a compulsive attempt to ease the pain or distress of a failure in our early childhood attachment relationships by replacing that unmet attachment need with a negative attachment. Kaur (2016), in “Mate On Attachment and Addiction,” said the more we suffer, and the earlier in life we suffer, the more we are prone to become addicted. “The addiction if you will, or the negative attachment… can become a guide to the attachment that you didn’t get in the first place. Nothing to be ashamed of; as a matter of fact, a natural consequence” (Maté, 2010).

"The secret of creating peace is that when you listen to another person you have only one purpose: to offer him an opportunity to empty his heart.

If you are able to keep that awareness and compassion alive in you, then you can sit for one hour and listen even if the other person’s speech contains a lot of wrong perceptions, condemnations and bitterness. You can continue to listen because you are already protected by the nectar of compassion in your own heart.

If you do not practice mindful breathing in order to keep that compassion alive, however, you can lose your own peace. Irritation and anger will come up, and the other person will notice and will not be able to continue. Keeping your awareness keeps you safe." - Thich Nhat Hanh
