🇮🇪 COACH SPOTLIGHT: Kevin Moran 🇮🇪

Before Team Ireland headed to the 2026 IMMAF European Championships in Serbia, we caught up with Irish Assistant Coach Kevin Moran, representing Conriocht MMA in Athenry, Galway! Coach Moran shares his profound insights on what truly distinguishes a good fighter from a great one.

"What separates a good fighter from a great fighter is the ability for a great fighter to adapt and also to impose," explains Coach Moran. He emphasizes the importance of imposing one's game when things are going well, and crucially, adapting and going counter-offensive when under pressure. "They don't go into defensive, they go counter-offensive and that's my opinion the difference between a good and a great fighter."

Coach Moran also highlighted the critical role of mindset at this elite level, especially during a long and demanding tournament week where every day can feel like a fight day, including the challenges of making weight. His proudest coaching moments include seeing athletes from his own club, like Michael Cronnelly, Darragh Higgins, and Sean Feery, represent Ireland at IMMAF events, and his first outing as an Irish coach in Georgia last year.
