Martin Goulding has opened his own practice, West Cork Amatsu Injury Clinic, after four years of extensive training with the Daghda Synergy Amatsu Therapy Academy and the Amatsu Therapy Association (ATA). He is a member of ROSTI (Register of Orthapaedic and Soft Tissue Therapists of Ireland).
Amatsu therapy is a modern adaptation of a soft tissue therapy that has been used for thousands of years in Japan. It is based on ancient principles of natural movement and can be used to help many musculo-skeletal and lifestyle related conditions, as well as supporting the restoration of general health and well being.
Amatsu practitioners use unique soft tissue pressure and mobilisation techniques to treat your whole body, not just the symptoms. We also seek to address the effects of life’s daily stresses on you – such as physical, emotional and environmental factors.
Unlike many other therapies, it is a whole body treatment that works with the body’s soft tissue (e.g. muscles, tendons, fascia, ligaments and organs) to help to re-balance other key mechanical and energetic structures (e.g. the spine, bones, joints, cranium and meridian circuits).
Treatments (balances) are suitable for people of all age groups and those with limited mobility
An Amatsu therapy treatment, referred to as a ‘balance’, normally takes between 30 and 60 minutes. For the most part treatments are carried out fully clothed
The number of treatments required will always depend on your individual problems. We believe in educating our clients to take control of their own health. Many clients, once they have resolved their initial problem, return to maintain their health. Some come for a balance on a regular basis eg once a month, whilst others return as and when they feel a need.
Post treatment advice:
Many people feel very different as soon as they get off the treatment couch; others start to feel the changes over a couple of days.
It is not unusual to notice your body standing and moving differently between treatments. Some people may feel tired and experience aches or have a boost of energy after the treatment, others comment that they had a change in the feelings they were experiencing. Please think of this as your body sorting out a new way of acting and reacting at that moment to the changes. Reporting changes back to your practitioner will be a major benefit in your treatment structure.
Most importantly, listen to your body. Some people feel energised after a treatment, whilst others feel tired. Everyone is different and it is simply your body adjusting itself to the changes that have been made during your treatment.
If you have any questions or concerns following your treatment please contact your practitioner who will be able to discuss them with you.
Amatsu therapy should not be used to replace medical treatment without consultation with your GP. If unsure, please consult your local Amatsu therapy practitioner and your GP for advice
