Meaningful change comes from clarity.
The new year doesn’t require a new version of yourself — just space to continue, adjust, and grow at your own pace.

Sometimes, inspiration can hit unexpectedly, such as in an airport...
Looking back too often can quietly wear us down.
Replaying the same memories, regrets, or “what ifs” over and over can take a real toll on our mental health.
The past can’t be changed — but our relationship with it, can.

Learning to let go means choosing not to let yesterday define today.
It’s a slow, sometimes uncomfortable process, but one that brings deep relief and freedom.

As Viktor Frankl, psychiatrist and Holocaust survivor, wrote:
“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.”

Acceptance isn’t resignation — it’s a shift toward growth, meaning, and peace.

Humor is a shield against existential anxiety. It is more than just a way to make people laugh — it’s a powerful coping mechanism. When we face deep existential fears, like the awareness of death or the uncertainty of life, humor helps us take a step back and breathe.
As Viktor Frankl, founder of logotherapy, wrote: “Humor, more than anything else in the human make-up, can afford an aloofness and an ability to rise above any situation.”
Through laughter, we reclaim a sense of control — and remind ourselves that even in the face of life’s limits, we can still choose our attitude.

Spinoza said we “believe ourselves free because we’re conscious of our actions, yet ignorant of their causes.”
True freedom begins when we see what shapes our choices — habits, emotions, beliefs.
Psychologists Haggard & Chambon (2012) show that our sense of agency, the feeling of being the author of our actions, is key to motivation and well-being.
Awareness is power — it’s how we start choosing, not just reacting.

Sometimes, you can't tell the sun from the moon...
Is doubt and obstacle or opportunity?
In psychology, doubt is not just hesitation — it’s also a signal that pushes us to analyse, reflect, and sometimes… grow.
Research shows that tolerance of uncertainty is a key factor in psychological well-being (Carleton, 2016, Journal of Anxiety Disorders).
As Carleton puts it: “It is not uncertainty itself that is distressing, but our difficulty tolerating it.”
Doubt is useful when it helps us reflect. It becomes harmful when it paralyzes us.

loneliness is a profound human experience described by existential like Irvin Yalom and Viktor Frankl as the deep awareness that, ultimately, we each confront life's great questions—meaning, death, freedom, and responsibility—alone.

Yalom emphasizes that acknowledging our fundamental aloneness helps us truly appreciate the significance and value of authentic relationships. Similarly, Frankl teaches us that genuine meaning emerges through our connections with others, our shared experiences, and commitments beyond ourselves.

When confronted with existential isolation, offers refuge. Engaging deeply, openly, and vulnerably with others allows us to embrace our shared , alleviating the burden of loneliness and reigniting purpose in our lives.

Watching "Sweet Bobby: My Catfish Nightmare" shows how easily we can be influenced by social and cultural expectations. The desire to love, to be loved, to believe in a perfect story — and to be approved of by those around us — can be so strong that we ignore warning signs, even when they’re right in front of us. Sometimes, denial feels safer than facing a painful truth.

In psychology, this is called cognitive dissonance (Festinger, 1957) — the tension between what we believe and what we actually experience. To reduce this discomfort, our minds often protect us by filtering reality.
And when emotions like fear, shame, or hope become too intense, they can cloud our judgment (Gross, 2002 – Emotion Regulation Theory).

But what if seeing things clearly — even when it hurts — was already a gentle act of self-care?

We often define ourselves through comparison.
Others become mirrors — their choices, their norms, their successes shape how we perceive ourselves. As social psychologist Leon Festinger pointed out in his social comparison theory, we tend to evaluate our own worth by measuring ourselves against others.
But what happens when we don’t identify with any of the norms around us?
When no reflection feels accurate or familiar?
Perhaps that’s where something deeper begins — a more authentic self, free to emerge outside of the usual frameworks.
