Here I am. I haven't given up on my Holistic Fitness Journey. Or on yours.
Over the last year and a half I gave myself the gift of a reset.
My life was not what you could call sustainable.
I was always on the brink of a stress-related breakdown, whether it manifested in body or mind, I felt completely inadequate to the task of "moving ahead" with my life. Sometimes of just living.
Despite that, I stuck with my various trainings, work, obligations etc but I found I had zero time for "extras" like having fun with friends. In fact, I became so irritable with friends that I either lost them or cut myself off from them in the fear of losing them.
So, yes... in hindsight, that was no life.
And I couldn't figure it out from where I was, constantly under financial pressure and cut off from support.
I got the "hell out of [my personal] Dodge".
I offered myself as volunteer to a young, developing project which I resonated with at the heart level. There I mostly built a garden and painted windows and cleaned things.
I dedicated the next year and several months to staying away from mental stress, paying attention to my bodily activities (physicality), dealing with my emotional development (or lack of...😲). I went deep into a process that took me to new emotional depths and heights. I stayed grounded, fed myself well and got lots of rest. Magically enough, I was supported in all this by complete strangers who have become dear friends.
The thing is, not everybody can do this in the way that I did... but what they CAN do is give to themselves.
First step is to ask and answer the question "What do I need, right NOW?"
Does that sound easy? Well, in my experience it isn't. And if you have never asked yourself that question, well it's downright alien-speak.
I was lucky. People kept asking me "What do you want/need?" until I woke up to the fact that I hadn't a clue.
Now I am YOUR wake-up call.
If you are living in ANY kind of anxious, stressful, fearful way it's only a sign. A sign that you need to take care of YOU.
And you have my permission. You ARE worth it.
In fact nothing is more worth your time than addressing your quality of life.
No matter your state of health now, you can improve it by paying attention to what you need. Right Now. Please.
PS One reason is that the World needs you to know how it is to take care of YOU. So you can recognise that to take care of you, you need to take decisions that take care of it. This becomes a natural, rewarding interaction. (Not the off-putting, disciplinary deprivation and hard work that it is advertised to be. Honestly.)
Small steps. What do you need right now?
A kind word, a warm hand on your shoulder, a cup of tea made for you, a listening ear, a lie down, a break from everything, a walk in the woods, silence, a wild dance to loud music? Do it... do it for yourself... and ask someone for the things you want from others. If the first one refuses, ask another. It's how it WORKS. So, don't give up.
