💐 International Women’s Day at Windmill House Care Centre 💐

We had a wonderful time celebrating International Women’s Day here at Windmill House Care Centre with our residents and staff.

To mark the occasion, we hosted a special screening of the Barbie movie, which brought lots of smiles, laughter, and great conversation among everyone who attended. It was a lovely way to celebrate the incredible women in our community.

We would like to take a moment to recognise the incredible achievements of Aoife O’Sullivan, one of our dedicated HCAs here at Windmill House Care Centre.

Aoife has recently had an outstanding run of success in athletics, achieving some truly impressive milestones:

✨ A personal best of 1.85m, placing her 7th on the all-time Irish list
✨ A new MTU University record
✨ A U23 Championship record (1.81m) while representing Ireland in Norway
✨ Her first international medal – Bronze – in France

We are extremely proud of Aoife and honoured to have such a talented and inspiring member of our team. Congratulations Aoife on these fantastic achievements — we look forward to seeing what comes next! 👏

Today at Windmill House we proudly celebrated Denim Day for Dementia 💙👖

Staff and residents came together wearing their favourite denim to raise awareness and show support for people living with dementia. It was a wonderful day filled with smiles, conversation, and a strong sense of community.

Small acts like this help start important conversations and remind us of the importance of understanding, compassion, and support for those affected by dementia.

🌟 Exciting News for Willow Brooke Centre! 🌟

We are delighted to share that Willow Brooke Centre has been shortlisted as a Finalist in the Healthcare Initiative – Older Persons Care Services – Private category at the Irish Healthcare Centre Awards 2026.

This recognition means so much to us and is a reflection of the dedication, compassion, and hard work of our incredible team who provide outstanding care and support to our residents every day.

We are very proud of this achievement and grateful to everyone who continues to support the work we do.

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony later this year, and we are honoured to be among the finalists.

🎲♠️ Casino & Games Afternoon at Abbot Close ♣️🎲

We had great fun at Abbot Close during our Casino & Games Afternoon! Residents enjoyed an exciting time playing a variety of games, sharing plenty of laughs, and embracing a little friendly competition along the way.

From cards to classic table games, the room was full of energy, smiles, and great company. It was a wonderful way for everyone to relax, socialise, and enjoy an entertaining afternoon together.

On International Women’s Day, we are proud to recognise and celebrate the incredible women across Windmill Healthcare.

From our dedicated nurses and healthcare assistants to our teams in clinical support, housekeeping, catering, administration, activities, and management — women across our homes play a vital role in providing the compassionate care, expertise, and support our residents and their families rely on every day.

Many of the women who make such a difference in our care centres prefer to work quietly behind the scenes rather than in the spotlight, but today we are delighted to celebrate and shine a light on just some of the remarkable women who make our communities stronger.

As our organisation continues to grow, it’s inspiring to see more women joining our teams across a wide range of healthcare roles, helping to shape the future of care with dedication, professionalism, and heart.

Today at Willowbrooke Care Centre we proudly took part in Denim Day in support of the Alzheimer's Society. Staff and residents wore their favourite denim to help raise awareness and show our support for those living with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

It was a wonderful day filled with conversation, smiles, and a shared commitment to supporting an important cause that touches so many families in our community.

🎶 Campanology Fun at Killeline Care Centre! 🎶

Our residents had a wonderful time enjoying Campanology with our fantastic music therapist, Damien. The room was filled with smiles, laughter, and the beautiful sounds of handbells as everyone joined in to create music together.

Music therapy sessions like this bring so much joy and engagement, and it’s always lovely to see our residents expressing themselves and enjoying the moment. 💛

Never too old to take up a new sport! 🥊

Our wonderful resident Jean at Windmill House Care Centre recently teamed up with staff member Arnold for a bit of boxing training — and what a fantastic session it was! Full of energy, laughter, and great fun, they showed us all that trying something new can be exciting at any age.

It was inspiring to see such enthusiasm, determination, and plenty of smiles along the way. Well done Jean and Arnold — true champions in every sense! 👏

As February draws to a close, we’re looking back with warm hearts at all the love shared this month in Ferbane Care Centre ❤️

Our Valentine’s celebrations brought so many special moments — smiles, laughter, beautiful decorations, and time spent together celebrating friendship and kindness. It was a joy to see residents and staff sharing the spirit of the season and making wonderful memories along the way.
