The show is over, but the work continues, 24/7, 365! ๐Ÿฅ

Last night we watched the final episode of 'Any Given Day' on RTร‰ One. We saw amazing procedures, emotional moments and incredible acts of care and compassion. A powerful reminder that the work happening across Cork University Hospital is not the stuff of movies but everyday life in the hospital.

The work continues, and your donation means the best chance for anyone who comes through the doors of the hospital on any given day. https://www.cuhcharity.ie/donate-page/

Last night, on 'Any Given Day' RTร‰, we saw a mother and son attend the Children's E.D. ๐Ÿฅ with an ongoing case of breathing issues. We heard of the struggle a parent goes through when their child needs medical attention and the anxiety it brings. With your support, we can ease that burden.

We are so proud to have helped develop the Children's E.D., a space seperate from the adults' E.D., where children can be seen for major trauma, broken bones, high temperatures, mental health issues, acute illness and so much more!

Cancer changes livesโ€ฆ unless it never starts.

The fear of hereditary risk can last for years, but CUHโ€™s Professor Mark Corrigan is leading Ireland's first Cancer Prevention Programme that helps reduce the risk of developing certain cancers. Your donation has the power to protect a life from cancer.

If you have seen Episode 3 of RTร‰โ€™s โ€˜Any Given Dayโ€™, you have seen Professor Mark Corrigan discuss prevention. Up to 40% of cancers are preventable, and even when cancer does occur, early prevention steps improve survival and treatment outcomes.

More than surgery, a complete Prevention Programme.
This programme brings together expert care in one clear, coordinated pathway:

โ€ข Early risk assessment by specialist nurses and genetic experts
โ€ข Rapid genetic testing, reducing waiting times from 2 โ€“ 4 years to just 6 โ€“ 8 weeks
โ€ข Clear, personalised information, empowering people to decide whatโ€™s right for them
โ€ข Access to world-class specialists, including radiologists, breast cancer and gynaecological surgeons, and plastic reconstruction experts
โ€ข One-to-one psychological support, so no one faces life-changing decisions alone
โ€ข Protected theatre time, ensuring surgery is available when it is genuinely needed
โ€ข Easing pressure on the national system, delivering faster answers and earlier action for patients

This is possible because of the collective support from the patients & families, healthcare professionals, the HSE, NCCP and the generosity of CUH Charity supporters and the wider community. We are all in this together, and doing nothing is how cancer wins.

Your donation means more than you know...
Itโ€™s estimated that roughly every 100k spent on this type of programme can approximately
โ€ข Prevent 4 cancers
โ€ข Prevent 1 death
โ€ข Save the state 500k to be used elsewhere
Preventing cancer doesn't just save money, it saves lives, futures and families.

โ€œI have no doubt that there are people alive in our community because of the direct impact of CUH Charityโ€ - Professor Mark Corrigan.

Diagnosis at home ๐Ÿ

Epilepsy is the most common neurological disorder in children, but not all seizures are the same. That is why CUH Charity has approved the purchase of home video-EEG telemetry equipment for the Paediatric Neurosciences department.

If you have seen Episode 2 of RTร‰โ€™s โ€˜Any Given Dayโ€™, you will have seen how seizures can impact a child and a familyโ€™s lives, and the resources it takes to treat the most severe cases. Your donation can improve the lives of children with neurological conditions. https://www.cuhcharity.ie/donate-page/

Home video-EEG telemetry is needed for accurate epilepsy diagnosis and treatment in children. The leads are attached during their visit to CUH which record both video and EEG over a 24-48hr period at home. Being home allows them to be more comfortable while still recording the necessary data to determine the cause of their seizures.

Children can then receive accurate treatment for their conditions, based on the data gathered. Safer treatments, time at home, fewer hospital visits and healthier futures. These are all things that your support makes possible, together we are โ€˜Saving & Changing Livesโ€™

If you wish to support vital services like the Paediatric Neurosciences department, you can do so by visiting our website for more information.
