I have been feeling a little tired for the past few days so today I went in search of nettles. These nutrient dense plants are great as an energy boost. At this time of year the young shoots can be made into soups, added to stews or they also make a great pesto. It's the tiny little hairs on the stem and leaves that sting so if you catch them properly (the hairs grow upwards so grasp from below) they don't cause irritation.
It's important to pick them in an area where chemicals are not sprayed and away from places with a lot of traffic.

Now time to make soup!

I was lucky enough to be invited to the Clonakilty Resource Centre to help the walking group celebrate International Women's Day.
As well as a few little demos on making natural aromatherapy products we ended up chatting about the dangers of using chemicals to 'freshen' the air in our homes. Artificial scents are dangerous and can cause harm to our and our pets. So stay safe and natural!
