23/12/2025

On behalf of St John Ambulance Ireland, I extend Season’s Greetings to all who connected with our Charity throughout 2025—whether as a patient, trainee, partner, or contractor. It is our hope that your engagement with us brought support, learning, and benefit.

Our mottoes, Pro Fide and Pro Utilitate Hominum—For the Faith and In the Service of Humanity—invite us, especially at Christmas, to reflect on how we serve others and how we might continue that service with renewed purpose in 2026.

This season also calls us to remember with gratitude those who left us for their Eternal Reward during the past year. We hold in particular affection the volunteers of St John Ambulance who passed away in 2025. Their dedication, kindness, and service remain a lasting gift to us all.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas 🎄 and a Happy New Year 🥳. May the year ahead be one of peace, hope, and continued service to humanity.

John Hughes KStJ, Commissioner

A status orange weather warning doesn’t stop Santa, neither does it stop us. Our volunteers were out today providing cover for the annual Santa toy run raising funds and toys for Bernardo’s, the Children’s Leukemia Association and Cork Penny Dinners. Three great local charities supported by another. Thanks to our super volunteers.

As Christmas gets closer the duties get more seasonal. This weekend our crews were out providing pre hospital care at the newly opened Counting House in Cork and the annual Santa Cycle for our neighbours and friends in Goldbergs Bar. We also covered a night of cage fighting on Saturday night (Santa was not present at this one). Thanks to all our volunteers who gave up so much time again this week serving our community.

As November ends and the days grow shorter our duty list starts to wind down towards Christmas but our fantastic volunteers are still out there providing care at events. Today we provided ambulance and off road cover at a point to point in Ballindenisk. Thanks to these crews and the crews we had out covering other events today.

Today our volunteers were out covering matches in Pairc Ui Chaoimh and the food fair in the City Hall. The experienced volunteer will always use the opportunity to rest and prepare for action. It looks like they all had a good day.

Some of the team tonight at Virgin Media Park where Munster took on Edinburgh in rugby (and won of course). A great night volunteering at a great venue watching a great team win. This is one of the benefits of giving up your time to follow our motto- Pro Utilitate Hominum, In the service of humanity.

Blackpool Shopping Centre was the place to be today. Our volunteers were there to show who we are and what we do when we met our friends from National Ambulance Service (NAS) and Cork First Responder groups who were there demonstrating CPR. Thanks to all those who visited both groups today, remember any CPR beats no CPR. Learn first aid and CPR so some day you might make the difference.
