As our semester comes to a close, we wish to thank each of our valued CFR members for putting forth valiant effort towards their community service. We also wish to express the pride we have for our newly trained members and their passion for learning lifesaving CPR.

The end of the year does not mean the end of our service as individual students. Every new member becomes a potential responder within the community, making those around us safer. Thank you for being a part of the 2022-23 UCC CFR society, Ireland's only student operated CFR group. We look forward to seeing you next year for another season of service!

A huge thank you to everyone who came down for our UCC RESTART A HEART DAY on 9/2/23! We appreciate everyone who came out to train with us! We are happy to have new members on board.

We hope everyone had a wonderful time learning Hands-Only CPR, getting familiar with the AED, got a try at our brand new choking vest, under the guidance of our very own UCC student CFR instructors and our fellow colleagues from Cork City Community First Responders.

Here are some pictures from the wonderful training day we had. This is the first ever University-Wide Restart A Heart Day event we have run and we are incredibly grateful to UCC Students Union for making our vision come to life!

The participants had amazing guidance and teaching from our special guests and wonderful instructors, for whom we are very appreciative of! We also sincerely thank them for taking the time to work with us.

And a huge thank you to our team members for all of their hard work too!

We will be back next year for UCC Restart A Heart Day 2024!

Our Story

The UCC CRT answers an unmet need in the Cork community: there is a distinct lack of community first responders within Cork City, and an over-burdened ambulance service. CRTs all over Ireland serve to respond faster to cardiac arrests, with the goal of increasing the chance of survival for the patient in question. CFR schemes function by linking in and registering with the National Ambulance Service. The NAS switchboard links calls to the response team phone, allowing the team on duty to respond to the same call as the ambulances.

We are Ireland’s first student-led and student-run community first responder team. Since our live date, students from other universities around Ireland have reached out, wanting support and ideas for how to start their own schemes. We hope that in time there will be a team like ours in every university in Ireland.
