As the bank holiday weekend is fast approaching, we ask that you check to see if your prescription is due over the weekend as we will be closed on Monday.

If so please contact us at your earliest convenience to allow as adequate time to ensure your prescription will be in the pharmacy on time.

We are extremely busy each day so we really appreciate as much notice as possible for things like prescriptions etc . You can email (reception@burrenmedical.com) or phone us (065 6837604) with your prescription requests. In doing so, please let us know what medication you require and also what pharmacy you would like the prescription send to. By having adequate notice for prescriptions, it also helps relieve some of the pressure on the pharmacies.

Half Day Notice

The Burren Medical Centre will close for a half day Friday 16th January.

The phone lines will still be answered by the admin team but there will be no doctor or nurse available for appointments.

Shannondoc will be available from 5.30 pm tomorrow evening on (1800 212 500).

This surgery will re-open as normal on Monday 19th January.

Sticks and stones may break your bones, but we can help. You'll get specialist care at your nearest injury unit for recent injuries (less than 6 weeks old) that are not life-threatening and unlikely to need admission to hospital.​

Injury units can treat:​
➡️ broken bones, sprains and strains, from knees to toes​
➡️ broken bones, sprains and strains, from collarbone to fingertips​
➡️ minor facial injuries (including oral, dental and nasal injuries)​
➡️ minor scalds and burns​
➡️ wounds, bites, cuts, grazes and scalp lacerations (cuts)​
➡️ small abscesses and boils​
➡️ splinters and fish hooks​
➡️ objects stuck in eyes, ears or nose​
➡️ minor head injuries (fully-conscious patients, who did not have loss of consciousness or vomit after the head injury) ​

Is your Prescription due between Christmas and New Year?

As the festive season is fast approaching, we ask that you check to see if your prescription is due between now and the New Year.

Flu vaccines

In order to have immunity for the Christmas period, if you wish to avail of the flu vaccine please attend the surgery over the coming days, you don't need an appointment for this. You can just walk-in and one of our staff will administer the vaccine for you.

We also have a limited number of nasal vaccines left for children aged 2-17. If you would like your child to avail of same, please bring them into the surgery over the coming days. Again no appointment is necessary for this.
