Gutsykids

Gutsykids Who are we? We are parents of children and teens with Crohn's & Colitis, IBD (inflammatory Bowel Disease). This page is for sharing info and events.

Our aim is to provide information and raise awareness of this disease rapidly increasing in Ireland. This is not a platform for children and teens to share their personal stories or photos.

Scientists at Cancer Research UK in London have developed a groundbreaking genome sequencing test that can predict bowel cancer risk in people with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn’s and Colitis. This innovative test analyzes DNA changes in the bowel lining with over 90% accuracy, offering hope for earlier detection and personalized care. This is a major step forward for our community, led by a world-class research institution dedicated to fighting cancer.

As someone passionate about raising awareness for Crohn’s and Colitis, it’s encouraging to see science advancing toward better health outcomes for our community. Early detection saves lives, stay informed about these important developments, and talk to your healthcare provider about what this might mean for your care.

Many congratulations to Amy on her epic climb. What an amazing inspiration, if you can donate anything please do, (see the post below) Amy is raising funds for Crohn's and Colitis Ireland

Amy has reached the top of Mount Kilimanjaro!

After a treacherous seven days, through all types of terrain and every weather scenario imaginable, Amy summited mount Kilimanjaro at 6:30am local time. Huge congratulations Amy!

Standing at an incredible 5,896m (19,430ft), Amy spent the past five days hiking to the mountain peak, all to raise funds for the Crohn's and Colitis Ireland.

You can show your support by helping Amy’s fundraising efforts and by making a donation online.
