Despite the wild winds and heavy showers on Saturday everyone put their best foot forward and made the most of the day! Considering the weather, the switch from Mt. Brandon to Mount Eagle was a good call!! Great atmosphere with a great bunch of Hot in the Hills attendees back in TPs afterwards! Hope you all enjoyed!

Hot in the Hills Attendees,

Following the write up in the Irish Examiner this morning, the Late Late Show have been on to the Hot in the Hills team and are really keen to talk about being single and how an event like Hot in the Hills may provide some lucky hikers the opportunity to meet Mr. or Mrs. Right!

If any of you would be up for a bit of craic and would be willing to go on the Late Late Show this coming Friday, the 2nd of May, please pm Hot in Hills ASAP and with your permission we will forward on your details to the Late Late Show.

Booked your Hot in the Hills ticket and wondering what to wear/bring up Mt. Brandon? See the list below!

GEAR CHECK LIST

What to wear:

1) Light leggings or walking trousers.
Jeans and cotton type tracksuit bottoms are not suitable; they soak in water becoming heavy and difficult to move in.
2) Layer up with 2 light tops – breathable base layers and fleece are best – again no cotton because once it gets wet it stays wet. You could bring a spare layer in the bag in case you get cold on top.
3) Boot socks (these are thicker than normal socks and offer better protection against blisters)
4) Good walking boots (not runners). A twisted ankle could ruin your day!

Must Haves:

1) Backpack (the type that is worn on both shoulders)
2) Rain gear (waterproof pants and jacket)
3) Warm light fleece
4) Sun cream and sun hat (if needed)
5) Any personal medication. If you have any medical issues please be responsible and carry any necessary medication and inform the guide on the day before we set off.
6) Lunch (a sandwich and something else, bar of chocolate, fruit, nuts)
7) Water (more water will be needed if it is a Hot day in the Hills!!)

Other stuff that might make your day more enjoyable:

1) Bag liner (if your packpack does not have a waterproof outer bag)
2) Gaiters (in case the walk is mucky in parts)
3) Camera!
6) A change of clothes and shoes ......just in case it’s a very wet day to change into before getting back on the bus! Fingers crossed the sun will be shining though ;-)
