Client Progress Spotlight 💪

This client came in with ongoing shoulder pain that was limiting everyday movement. The client had been suffering from the pain and the reduced range of motion for over four years.

They were unable to:
🚫Raise their arm laterally without pain
🚫Fully straighten their arm without pain

After a few targeted sports therapy sessions focusing on mobility, strength, and pain reduction, the difference is clear 👇
✅ Improved ROM - lateral arm raise
✅ Full arm extension restored
✅ Pain-free movement returning

There is further improvements targeted for the new year however the attached images can highlight the improvements after a few sessions.

⭐️Injury Spotlight⭐️

Over the next few weeks I am going to discuss an injury that I have treated and some information around muscles involved, the role of the muscles and I will then follow up with some exercises that I have prescribed in the rehabilitation programme.

For my first injury spotlight, I had a client come in who was experiencing hip flexor pain. An highly active individual who participates in team sports however it became difficult and painful when running particularly at higher speeds and intensity.

The hip flexors consist of five key muscles that contribute to hip flexion:
🦵Iliacus
🦵Psoas
🦵Pectineus
🦵Rectus Femorus
🦵Sartorius.

A hip flexor muscle is a muscle that functions in flexing the hip, i.e bringing the knee closer to the chest. Hip flexion is maximal with a high, forward kick that brings the leg above the level of the waist. Every time you take a step, you are using your flexor muscles. 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

From pre treatment testing I determined tightness in the re**us femorus and upon palpitation of the psoas muscle I found areas of increased tissue density and sensitivity which all determined the treatment plan for the client.

Keep an eye for videos of exercises relating to hip flexor rehabilitation and strengthening over the coming days. ✅

What is Sports Massage and is it for me❓

Sports massage is a type of massage therapy that incorporates a variety of techniques, including deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, and stretching, to help individuals recover from injury, improve performance, and to reduce the risk of future injury.

Sports massage works by promoting healing, reducing pain and discomfort, and improving performance.
The massage therapist will use a variety of techniques, such as deep tissue massage, to target specific areas of the body that are affected by injury or pain.
This can help to improve blood flow, reduce muscle tension, and promote healing.

Sports massage has many benefits for inidividuals, including:
✅Reducing pain and discomfort
✅Improving flexibility and mobility
✅Promoting healing and recovery
✅Improving performance
✅Reducing risk of future injury

Prior to the treatment, I will conduct a thorough evaluation to determine what treatment is best for you. From there, we will develop a customised treatment plan tailored to your specific needs and goals. Following the treatment you will be given rehabilitation exercises to complete at home to help aid recovery but also to prevent reoccurrence of the injury. 🚷

It’s important to stress that sports massage or sports therapy treatment is not just for athletes, it highly effective for everyone and a wide range of injuries or complaints.
